Yep that's right. If your game is a big enough hit and interesting nowadays you get a movie. Imagine Jumpgate Evolution the movie. I will go see it if only for the reason that I like the game so much. Gore Verbinski will make it so let's hope it's at least as good as Pirates of the Caribbean.

Take-Two did not disclose financial terms of the deal or other details, such as when the film would be released. The company is the target of a $2 billion takeover bid by rival game publisher Electronic Arts Inc.
Released last August for Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360 game console, "BioShock" won praise for its complex story, haunting art deco atmosphere and creepy characters such as Big Daddies and Little Sisters.
"BioShock" has sold more than 2 million copies and Take-Two is working on a sequel.
The "BioShock" movie deal is the latest sign of the growing importance of video games in popular culture.

Bioshock ripped it's entire story and featureset from SS2 and then dumbed it downed for the masses. To say that this movie will be just as good as the DooM movie would probably be an insult to the steaming pile of crap that was the DooM movie.

Amen. SS2 was possibly one of the greatest games ever made... It had an immersive storyline, great gameplay and some seriously scary bits. It was also incredibly hard, however this was a good thing. Really a shame that they had to dumb it down so much for Bioshock

I have to disagree wholeheartedly. Bioshock was and is a great game.

What you guys are saying is no different than someone saying a year from now that Jumpgate Evolution was ripped from Jumpgate. Of course it is. Just like Bioshock 2 will be totally ripped from Bioshock. You might as well give up gaming if you set the standards too high in the clouds. I enjoyed the game and still do occasionally, as do millions of others. Soon it will be expanding to PS3 so many more will enjoy it. They wouldn't do that if there wasn't demand for it.

But hey, to each their own I guess.

The game was ok, but hey I’m big into Art Deco in any shape or form so I spent more time looking at the back drops, really liked the whole big daddy and the (can’t remember the names, for the kids) thing but that was just a take on something I cant put my finger on, as in its all been done before, but then what hasn’t.

As for the movie, I really wont hold any hope for it being any good, as yet I’m yet to see a game/movie movie/game tie in that has been any good.

Last FPS I played that I really enjoyed was F.E.A.R. Just played COD4, was ok and the S.A.S captain made me laugh as he is a well known TV actor, and every time he spoke I would see him having pint tin the Queen Vic.
