Site Update: JSR is Falling Apart

I will be doing a lot of work on the site in the near future which may cause lot's of problems for you as I do them. We are far behind on vBulletin updates so I will have to do a lot of manual template edits because of the customized style. Just a warning to all you lurkers. I figure hardly anyone is posting, nothing new has come from Jumpgate Evolution in months, and the devs never come here anymore. So I might as well tear the place up and get it up to par.

Of course this will mean exciting new features. It will also mean some old ones may not function. I doubt it but you never know.

So just a heads up for you. If you find problems let me know. I may start this in a few days.

can u implement Jumpgate Evolution flash game? anyway.. Its summertime.. u might aswell do it now.. Soon Im off Roadtripping Europe and most ppl will enjoy the summer.. so only few geeks will actually stay here and over at Jumpgate Evolution forums..

Ok the technical upgrade is complete on the back end. Now I just need to compare and manually update 45 templates that have changed.

If you have any severe errors then let me know asap and I will expedite the related templates.

That should be it. Let me know if you find any problems. The next step will be to go to vBulletin 3.7 which won't be quite so easy since it changes alot of the template structure from table elements to CSS.

I am bored so I will be updating to vBulletin 3.7 RC 4 this evening. This will be the one that has the potential to be a rough ride. Wish me luck.

Ok I got through that bit. Wasn't as bad as I thought however it is still 2:00AM. I guess doing the first update got it close enough to this one so that it wasn't so bad.

All the new features are turned off for now. I will have to decide how we will go about these features. Being that we have no volunteers I have to make the decisions about that which is bound to take a long time. Several of them need their templates pertied up before I turn on the added features.

So I am do for the night. I am going to go make shure I haven't missed a deal at slickdeals.net then I am going to bed.

Oh I guess I should mention some of the new features before I nod of. Your member page, as I start turning things on, will truly become your own. You will have comments and your own photo gallery. You will have groups that can be private or public, open or closed.Lots of social networking features to extend the forum beyond it's normal function. But not too much so.

I'm sure as usual not one of you will use any new features but you can't blame a guy for trying.
