Netdevil Release Patch 1.0101 For Jumpgate.

As posted by Istvan on JOSSH Forums.
Finally.

I think no one is likely to be happier seeing this patch released than I am. Not, mind you, that I'm overly happy with the patch itself. Some folks may recall that in remarks I posted in November 2004, I promised that I'd be breaking things in order to make progress. Well, I've been truer to my word than I hoped. In April I began a massive rewrite of how Jumpgate's AI is handled. The rewrite itself took a few days. Correcting what the rewrite broke has taken me, and many members of the test team, most of the last eight weeks. My original objective was to begin extending the AI system to add several major new features. The ones that I felt were really important I had to hold back, however. My first goal became just making the AI work the way it had before I changed anything, in order to simply get a patch released. Patch 1.0101 therefore does not meet my expectations.

Assuming everything holds together, the changes to the AI have addressed several longstanding bugs, so I consider that part of the patch a success. The groundwork for continuing my intended changes for the conflux is also fully in place, so I'll be adding more flux-related features as soon as I can. Obviously, in the last three weeks or so, I've had to step away from work on the patch to begin dealing with the technical problems surrounding the upheaval coming at the end of this month, with the reunification of the Jumpgate servers. I am hopeful this transition will go smoothly for us all. I'm looking forward to returning my complete attention to development, for the combined community, as soon as possible. I do not want to make long patch cycles a habit.

Thank you all for your patience.

v.1.0101 - June 17, 2005
------------------------------------------
-Removed GateKey device previously needed for access to conflux space.

-Fixed an issue that could result in CTD for any pilot in the same sector if a pilot fired a missile while targeting a docking beacon or a rotacol location.

-Corrected a problem preventing use of the Docking Beacon / Docking Computer in the offline sim.

-Added a HUD indicator for the FuelScoop; removed the text activation message.

-Added HUD readouts in lower right for future equipment damage system. Moved inflight medal display to the upper right corner.

-Attempted to address several issues reported on both EU and US servers involving data manipulation using external tools.

-Mentors will now be notified in most cases when one of their students exits the game. Students will likewise usually be notified when their mentor exits.

-Implemented a new "infest warning system". There will be visible indicators on HUD and around gate before an infest appears. Intention is to limit accidental pilot deaths caused by sudden infest appearances; it is now up to the pilot whether to ignore any warnings.

-Added new conflux asset and related systems.

-Altered rules controlling what type of defense droid spawns at TRI stations under different circumstances.

-Added DeepRadar MODx to aid miners in rapidly identifying potentially valuable asteroid types.

-Adjusted some characteristics of collision and rendering systems with the intent of slightly improving general framerates.

-Fixed longstanding bug preventing piracy in a station sector from generating a defense droid response.

-Addressed a problem with defense droid triggering by bountied pilots.

-Fixed a CTD bug caused by spawn changes in last patch. This bug was generally triggered by combat in Aman and Hyp station sectors.

-Addressed several longstanding related bugs tied to network issues and conflux handoff.

-Added new subsystem designed to use Ore Depots to help alleviate raw materials shortages and provide hauling tasks that are directly useful to the game economy.

-Altered econ settings to help prevent GM use of station-spawned commodities from creating overstock situations.

-Corrected an oversight that prevented a "mission completed" notification when completing an inflight mining (ore hauling) mission.

Can someone take a screenshot of these? I've not seen the new hud displays. How does the new MODx work?

...what? Does anyone have any idea what this means or what it just affected?

What is this new subsystem? How does it work? Can someone show me a picture, if that helps explain?

(I should know better than to ask on JGW)

The damage thing is just the symbols for the item type. The deep radar thing seems to color common brown, everything else is still gray. Haven't figured out the new subsystem thing yet, it may be behind the scenes.

Actual damage system will come in a next patch(s).

*note - an assumption.

Assumption that happens to be correct, in this case.

Quote:
-Added HUD readouts in lower right for future equipment damage system.
(emphasis mine)
