I loved Priv. I never played VegaStrike. This Priv Remake is based on the VegaStrike engine, so it's...guess what?...just like VegaStrike and almost nothing like Priv.
The commod exchange and ship upgrade interfaces were from VS, not the ones from Priv. I couldn't figure out how to install a laser once I bought one. The Readme was not particularly helpful in this venture.
The missions were also VS style and not really like the ones I remembered from Priv. Once I took a combat mission (defend a Drayman transport) and was in space, I found ship control to be very sloppy, not crisp at all. After about 10 minutes of the pirate pounding on the Drayman and me trying to hit him, I finally managed to down the pirate (he never targeted me, always the Drayman). Then I flew back to base to dock and was attacked by 2 pirates who got me to low armor and then ignored me to attack a couple other Tarsus's in the area.
I was unable to dock by flying near the base which according to the readme, the medium difficulty should have allowed (more difficult settings force you dock in some rings or something).
I am sure that with some very minimal training, I could master the interfaces, the different flight engine and whatnot. However, I'm not too interested in spending any time at all learning a new 1 player flight game when I have Jumpgate. If it had been more like Priv (i.e. I wouldn't have to relearn everything) then I may have liked it more. I just didn't like the feel of it and was disappointed that it was really just VegaStrike with Priv graphics.
