I remember buying Windows 98 Upgrade for $90+.... To me this is about the best Windows deal I've seen Microsoft offer...ever?

Download it and use it for "educational purposes", aka steal it.

Upgrade version's suck because if you have to do a restore. you 1st have to installed winXP or Vista then apply the upgrade. Also you can't repair windows with a upgrade version. Always buy the full version.

only issue with that is you have to reload the old operating system and required Service packs. and if you have several of the version then you are going to spend all day loading stuff you don't need. Someties it's just good to start over.

From the description on Amazon, and on Microsoft's Store site, you should be able to do a clean install.

I wouldn't see why you couldn't restore/repair with a disc that allows a clean install.

Well, it's a great deal for an upgrade version if you want it. Just an informational post not a request for advice on upgrade vs full. If you want to spend s lot more just to avoid putting a disk in , press a few keys and walk away. Then go for it.

The Win7 upgrade process appears not to be the same as the 98 -> XP upgrade process. It looks like you end up with a clean Win7 install.

I do like Win7 but I'm still having issues with a couple of things.
