Hello pilots of REGAN squad.

dis buddha jes stopping by to extend da greety greetz and say thanks for all da help over da last few days. I'm really enjoying this game! It's kinda addicting you know. (Take this very moment for example... here I am at work on a Saturday of all things ... and instead of doing da worky work I'm suppose ta be doing ... I'm posting in Jumpgate forums. Ack. addicted.)

Ok I have a few questions that seem like they would be hard to ask in game because I get the feeling the answers will be long and complicated.

What exactly is an FM broker?

Should I be taking FM missions to help my faction? and if I do take one for something like explosives that I can't find anywheres is it possible to take the necessary ingredients to a station somewhere and make the explosives? I noticed there is a prodution tool here on this site that I've looked at but not sure I understand completely.

Anyways, any light you can shed on how production works in this game would be helpful. (Or even better, if there is a clicky link to something that explains it... jossh doesn't seem to be very clear on it.)

An FM broker sits at the destination station holding the needed goods. You check the mission you get, ask if the broker has that commod, take the mission. Then fly empty to the station, trade with the broker for the commod, use it to close out mission.

This makes it easier by letting haulers bring it in large quantities and runners can travel faster to get missions.

brokering allows people to use faster ships instead of transport class runners. you can take a typhoon and run the mission, when you get back ask the broker for your floor space worth of commods (how you can hold more than 16 cargo in the phoon when equipping it. it usually says cargo 0/36 i think. anyways, you can fly faster ships to move the same commods as the slower transports thus making the FM go up faster. hope that helps ya

Thanks jump and kia. I'll try playing with those tools some tonight and see if I can't produce an item or two just to start understanding how it all works.
