Kalralahr - overall squad CO
Kal Khantahr - major squad functions (communications, squad XO, etc)

Kal Shintahr - WC of all wings (not assigned to a specific wing, but may fly with a wing at the Kal Shintahr's discretion)

Shintahr - WC of specific types of wings (fluxing, escort, etc; flies with other of the same type of wing, acting as CO of the specific wing as well as being in command of all like-type wings; default asignment of pre-wipe pilots, baring further advancement)

First Fang - XO of specific wing types (flies with the wing type)
Second Fang - pilot who's shown exceptional skill; assigned to a wing, generally, though not an absolute requirement (CO or XO of wing, or Shintahr and up may suggest advancement of a pilot to 2F)
Third Fang - Minimum requirement for inclusion in a wing, with eight eights (64) of kills.

First Claw - four eights of kills (32 kills of any type)
Second Claw - an eight of kills (8 kills of any type)
Third Claw - recruits, or those without the required number of kills for 2C

Kills can be either other pilots shot down or Conflux. For the purposes of squad advancement, a rip of another pilot counts double a conflux kill, reflecting the higher skill required fighting a thinking opponent.

All ranks are subject to Kalralahr approval, though anyone of Shintahr rank or up may recommend. Also at the discretion of the Kalralahr are promotions to a higher rank, even if the promotee doesn't meet the technical requirements.

Wing assignments take precedence over squad ranks. A Shintahr, while performing the duties of the wing he is assigned to command, has absolute authority over anyone up to and including Kalralahr, WITHIN THE WING. Outside of the duties of command, squad rank applies.
