Jumpgate Now Has A Homepage At JSR

The Jumpgate Community now has a homepage at JSR. It's similar to the JSR homepage at this time. But it will only display TRI news and Pilot submited news posts. TRI news is automatic, yours are not.

It also lists latest posts and such from the Jumpgate forums only.

Further hacks to follow.

I would like to re-emphasize this. It's really important that we have fresh news up in a timely manor. Search engines pick up on sites that update info a lot. Frequently updated news is like free advertising for Jumpgate. The more it's update the better we are listed in peoples search results. Which in turns leads to more people finding out about Jumpgate who might not have otherwise.

Someone give the SNN or any other journalistic groups the nudge to start mirroring theire news releases here. That would help a lot.

You just post a new thread in the Pilot News forum and it will wait for approval of myself or news editors (don't have any yet). Once approved, it will automatically be displayed on the front page and open for comments.

Ok, I added a submit news link on the front page. Still the same method, just takes you straight there.

I believe I just noticed that my pilot info thingy is not updating. Shows me off duty when I am TRI-C.

Jump, if you're after a part-time mod/editor, I'd be happy to help... I just can't really commit any firm amounts of time at the moment - I just moved house and started a new job, and things are still settling down.

We need a dedicated staff here. So far, we have had no offers from anyone qualified that can put in the time and effort. Those that I know can do a good job seem to have no time. Or they have never even registered here which is an answer in itself. This community takes too much for granted. Things just don't continue on in existence by themselves. Everything takes a concerted effort or they just fades into silence.
