Gobbles Madness

Since the discovery of the original "Gobbles" DSS years ago, the first pristine DSS to suggest the existance of an ancient holiday involving the mass and merry slaughter of turkeys sometime in the end of the eleventh month of our calender, TRI-RMD has held a celebration at the end of every 11th month to commemorate this ancient holiday, raise morale, and subsidize the funds of worthy pilots. TRI-RMD officials would be authorized to fly a single Octavian transport craft with the registry "Gobbles" for the duration of the event - a transport craft with a hefty bounty attached to it.

This year "Gobbles" the turkey, flying his usual bountied Octavian transport, is back.. but this time, he seems to have teeth. Pilots report that his skills (or perhaps equipment) seem to have improved, and at least one talented pilot has been podded as a result. -Menace-, originally a victim of Gobbles, turned the tables and later collected Gobbles bounties on two seperate occassions during dedicated hunting yesterday. According to Grimgriz, McPlowed, Elmdor, Munney and himself also have kills on Gobbles.

Solrain pilot Stitch has been making a point of hunting Gobbles, and managed to destroy the bountied transport in the Quadrangle earlier this morning. Corn showed up mid-fight, and with his added firepower, Gobbles went down. "Gobbles would have killed me if not for COrn," Stitch noted. "He is a noble Quantar."

"I was just trying to steal the kill," Corn later explained. And one can certainly understand why this would be a temptation with Gobbles flying about with a bounty that has approached 7 million credits at times. Money like that doesn't just tempt Solrain blood.

Within minutes Gobbles was in space again, preparing to commit to dastardly deeds against any pilot that would dare attempt to hunt him down. Elmdor dared, and Gobbles was quickly downed after sighting in The Main Gate. Upon being asked whether he got the kill, Elmdor replied, "Oui, because I am a ks'in lamer." Whether Elmdor actually "stole" the kill of Gobbles from another pilot is unknown.

Some pilots have taken to flipping most of TRI space to the various factional colors in an attempt to trace Gobbles. So far, this method has offerred varying degrees of success in tracking down the turkey, as keeping all of TRI space tuned takes more effort than most are willing to contribute. Nontheless, some have attempted to increase beaon flipping duties during this event to help in better tracking Gobbles.

Further sightings of Gobbles have yet to be made, though TRI has been left at "Gobble" Con 2, indicating that Gobbles may yet appear to be hunted more today.

This is your correspondant John "Icefoxen" Robertson at Wake Station wishing you all a happy holiday and good hunting. 'Out.
