UUNN: Find of a lifetime...again?
UUNN: Find of a lifetime...again?
by Fence/BROKER/Ally This breaking story just in: A pilot wishing to remain anonymous claims to have evidence of another Pre-Collapse cryogenic sleeping chamber broadcasting a weak locator signal on the same frequency as the cryosleep pod found during the Second GVB War some 22 years ago. As is commonly known, the Solrain factionalist squad Solidarity was founded earlier this year around a small group of Pre-Collapse citizens of the planet Solrain (lost some 2000 years ago in the Great Collapse) who have no memory prior to their modern awakening 4 years ago. Historian ZeroZ95 of Solidarity who helped locate the first group of PC survivors has independently confirmed (under contract from squad BROKER) that there is a strong probability the signal is genuine. He said, "Of course, I can't be completely sure unless you give me access to the entire MicroBurst, but the frequency is a match and the message header looks authentic as well. A lot of information about the first cryosleep pod was never made public. So if this turns out to be a fake, it is a very good one, created by very well connected individuals." If the second cryopod is genuine and another group of PC humans can be revived with their memories intact, the impact to modern culture could be immeasurable. If a single faction/group could gain unilateral access to such a resource, it would easily gain an astounding advantage over its rivals, perhaps even enough of an advantage to spark an all out war the likes of which have not been seen since the Second GVB War. Combine this potentiality with the recent meteoric rise of the factional militaries power/influence and the demise of the traditional TRI sponsored "Honor Guard" program formerly headed up by legendary strategist Tache Uzelin. TRI could be facing the greatest conflict of our time. Of course, if this new cryopod is not located, or is destroyed, or contains more memory-wiped humans, then the value of such a find is dubious to anyone other than the archeological/academic community. But even a slim chance of aquiring such an edge is a gamble that many are willing to take, or so believes the pilot owning the information about the locator signal. He is willing to sell his information to any and every pilot for 10 million credits per pilot. To protect himself and his dirtside family, he has contracted with squad BROKER for its well known privacy protection program (in the interest of full disclosure, UUNN is also operated by squad BROKER). Any individual pilot wishing to receive further information about how/where/when to begin the search for the Pre-Collapse cryopod, please PM Fence on the JOSSH forums for instructions. The search for the second cryopod will begin this Friday. UUNN: If you have news, we can make you newsworthy. Unregulated Unaffiliated News Net is a wholly owned subsidiary of TRI squad BROKER. Any unauthorized use of the UUNN name or logo will be dealt with in every arena of justice available. -------------- OOCly: During my last run of missions (here for details), pilot motivation was always a tough issue to face considering my missions are not official storyline material. The most fair criticism I received about them was that it was "make believe inside of make believe" or something to that effect. I often would pay people to run missions which was problematic because I have such limited funds. Thus, me paying people 500k-1mil for a mission is very little pay for them individually, but me doing it for 20 pilots per night is a lot of money for me to lay out. The 10 million credit buy-in is designed to help both of these issues, and that money will get you put on my PM list for mission briefings then you can brief your squad/wingmen. So I suggest that squads choose 1 or 2 people who check PMs often as their contact people (10mil isn't a lot for a whole squad). If there are any truly indpendent pilots wanting to get involved, send Fence a PM on the JOSSH forums and we'll discuss a reduced price for buy-in if you are broke or a newer pilot (inclusion is important to me). Thus, with a modest amount of your own money at stake, you'll be motivated to win and I won't have to go broke paying dozens of pilots what amounts to chicken feed for them individually. All of the money from the buy in will be put back into paying pilots for missions and rewards. I should be able to schedule missions during both EU and US primetimes on both weekdays and weekends so hopefully everyone who wants to will get to take part in at least a mission or two. I anticipate Friday's mission to be both EU and US prime time and to spill over into the weekend possibly. I expect the entire storyline to playout over a week or 2 (dragging things out too long was another valid criticism of my prior efforts). Obviously this storyline was developed with the cooperation of Solidarity (they contacted me initially). I assure you that they are in the complete dark about the actual mission details and will have no advantage. If your squad would like me to help put together an unofficial storyline with a mission set, send Fence a PM on the JOSSH forums with your idea and we'll try to brainstorm it. A party interested in aquisition of the cryopod has offered 50 million credits for safe delivery of it to the destination of his choosing.
This client has also offered 25 million credits for destruction of the cryopod if unfriendly parties end up with control of it and are delivering it to a destination not of his choosing. --------- Last night's Recon Mission did not locate the cryopod. Additional Missions are scheduled starting today and running daily until the sector is located. There is still time to buy-in for Mission briefings. Fence BROKER OOCly, in addition to winning (almost) all the combined buy-in money, the pod-finding side will be given 50 million additional credits if they safely deliver the pod. Their opposition will get 25 million additional credits if they are able to deny the pod before delivery. Who ends up on which side (pod-finders or opposition) depends entirely on how missions play out. But the winning side of each mission has a better chance for the next missions.
