After considerable work by NetDevil's full-time webmaster over the last several months, I am pleased to finally announce that NetDevil is about to establish a new billing system for Jumpgate Classic and other NetDevil products.

NetDevil's new billing system is expected to resolve a large number of longstanding problems, as well as the recent, very serious problem of the failure of automated account activation.

Here's a list of the high points of the new billing system:

* No switch to a third-party billing provider's site when signing up.
* Longer, 14-day free trials.
* No credit card information required for free trial.
* Choice of billing period (monthly, 3-month, etc.)
* Easier lost password retrieval.
* Easier reactivations.
* PayByCash service remains an option, but Internet Payment Solutions (IPS) ceases to be our billing provider.
* NetDevil personnel will be able to solve billing problems, instead of referring problems to another company.

IMPORTANT: To make the change in billing systems possible, all billing through IPS will be terminated when we cut over. Accounts will remain active through the end of their current billing cycle at time of cut over. Customers with existing Jumpgate accounts will need to create an account with the new billing system in order to set up billing. I assure you this process is intended to be as easy and painless for our present customers as possible.

I expect to be able to post specific information about when the cut over will occur, and how to transfer your accounts, in a matter of days.

well.. it worked on EU server.. more ppl tried the game there.. witch led to higher numbers of players.. But I fear it might be to late now with Jumpgate Evolution comming..

Given the fact that EU server does not exist, I would say it didn't work all that well.

Sounds like a good deal. No CC is standard for other MMO trials so it's not really a topic of debate.

But again, they post news without sending anything out to fan sites for release. So there is still a long way to go in their methodology. I moved your surprising thread to the front page. You're a big time news writer now. Ok, I'm dreaming.

Never figured you for a lemming, Jump! Of course it's a topic for debate. No CC just encourages lots of wasted bandwidth for unqualified prospects. Just because "everyone does it" doesn't make it smart.

Some things are tried and true and going against the grain can be foolhardy. The CC requirement has turned away many potential players over the years. Maybe you are not aware of this but many people are cautious when it comes to dropping this info on websites they happen across. Try before you buy is ingrained into the internet culture.

And please, "doen" call me a lemming!

I'm really glad they fixed this! There were many people posting on the Jossh forums asking for help activating their accounts. (How many people didn't even bother to post?) I hope to see lots of new faces in the game over the next little while.

I agree. I personally believe there were hundreds and hundreds of people who never played simply because they didn't go through the effort of trying to get their accounts activated (when it didn't happen "automatically" as it should have).

Even my recent case. Istvan had to force activate my account and him and Toth sent emails (which were cc to me) for them to take care of it. I never did hear from them. It's just me, but what about all the strangers out there that said pffft and moved on.

The new way may prove to be better, but I'm sick and tired of having to re-do stuff ever couple of years. It's always a hassle and I always end up TRI-C for a couple of days or more. Shame they couldn't have done it right the first time. Oh well.. such is life.
