If you guys have a camcorder, could you do another video showing YOU actually moving your head, I'd like to see how that part of this works. Like, do you have some movement of your head before the viewpoint changes? At what point does the screen recenter? When you turn your head to the side to look "over your shoulder" how far is your head turned, and can you still see the screen easily?

This looks like something I would actually throw down some cash for...

There is a deadzone for the snapback to HUD position that is configurable within Jumpgate. The amount of physical head movement to virtual head movement is completely configurable within the TrackIR software, so you can have as much or as little movement as you want. You can do also do a search on youtube for videos demonstrating TrackIR using a camcorder.

Sweet. Though that makes good HUD design even more critical.

Re: TrackIR user please read!

Actually, I now remember that I used to move around A LOT as I got more involved in the action. I remember SingleShot posting that you were a noob if you still did it too.

Involvement can be too involving. or something.

Re: TrackIR user please read!

I know I was constantly using my HAT switch when fighting, the radar could only do so much you know. Maybe if I had gotten better at changing my radar range I could have used it to check for targets on my side and tail, but instead I kept the radar at max and use my actual vision to look and make sure people were not trying to sneak up on me.

One thing I noted... u didnt check your six. Of course, I realize its a bit hard to translate that movement to the TrackIR but begs the question.... can be done?

I loved the video, btw.

The cockpit configuration does not allow for viewing more than 90 degrees to either side. To look behind you, you have to look strait ahead(so the HUD is visible) and use the look back key (hat switch). This fits into the fiction that to look behind you, you must use a review camera.

review camera.
Which is what I suggested on another thread, that the actual Jumpgate Classic back view is imposible to achieve. Finally somebody understands

BTW, one remedy could be to use the look down, as if you had that rear view camera below the HUD and such.

Iy also make cockpit design, detail and functionality a much bigger deal . . . right now most pilots I know turn the cockpit off -- which I think is a shame.
