Calling all multiple monitor gurus

Give me all the low down on the good and bad of multiple monitor land. I got number two rolling but I can see it is going to take some getting used to. I probably don't have it set up right. That's right, I am a noob.

Tough audience.

I bought a 28 inch ViewSonic to go with my 22. It's freeking huge. I bought a copy of ultramon to take care of it

The biggest thing is the resolutions have to match. When I had mine set up at work, I had my desktop span the two. It is really nice for surfing and coding.

Ultramon is the key to multi-monitor happiness.

I am not spanning. No need to with Ulramon. The 28 inch is 1920 X 1280 and he 22 is 1680 X 1050 and it works great. Ultramon spans the task bar which is cool. And it does a ton of other stuff.

I see two side by side red stuck pixels dead center of the new monitor. A couple dead ones toward the bottom. I have been trying to fix the red stuck but I may have to call and give them a load of crap.

When i had 2 monitors for Jumpgate, I had 1 for actually playing on, and the other for the internet = online pilot status.

Re: Calling all multiple monitor gurus

That's the intent. Problem with Jumpgate is it doesn't support the todays resolutions so it defaults to the low end an blows out the other monitor. I haven't tried it since I installed ultramon.

Either way, I guess I am going to have to pack up this new monitor and drop it off at Costco so they can ship me a new one.

Re: Calling all multiple monitor gurus

Well, I am probably going to get screwed on the monitor. I see at Costco.com you can return to the store but they only give you a refund. Yes I could order another but the sale is over.

Re: Calling all multiple monitor gurus

Ive never seen deadpixes fixed honestly.

They dont need to have same resolutions either, and I didnt use that thing or software. The biggest problem with Jumpgate is that whatever window you had centered on the 2nd monitor it tended to push it to the edge and in my case I would have apps that had half of it that I couldnt see.

Now, about issues, only one that bothered me a LOT was that at times, windows forgets where is the 2nd monitor. At one moment I moved the mouse to the right but it didnt go as supposed to, so I moved the mouse to the left and there it worked (as if windows had reset position of 2nd monitor from right to left).

ELP

Re: Calling all multiple monitor gurus

That wont be a problem with Jumpgate Evolution I have multiple monitors at the office and have Jumpgate Evolution running on one with email, etc. running on the second. The game will also run at any resolution the graphics card/monitor will support.
