But I expected to see a bigger online presence of friendlies (not country friendlies, but ex-Jumpgate friends) and for the most part, the average was 4 or 5. At the most... I think we were like 12 or 15. Locating where each other is... is a nightmare as well, and many times I kept asking where were we fighting... and got no response. The fact that the game is big time joystick intensive.... and will make your stick to break... is scary too. I learned that some of the folks were using 'replacement contracts with Compusa' which is a neat thing, but is not available locally, so... i can't be buying a 80 to 120 stick every year or so. In Jumpgate... my x45 still works, on AH2... it drifts to the right, making me a sure death everytime I take off. I liked though, the fact that the ship malfunctioned when shot. Either not being able to go up above 10,000, or seing the canopy broken to pieces and painted with oil and sometimes even blood. It has good details, but again... no friends online... so Im not going to subscribe. ELP |

Good to see AH2 getting new players
I have seen a few of the names here in other forums and online. Its good to see you guys getting into the game. If you ever need/want help don't hesitate just jump right in and ask. I would be glad to help you guys out if you step into the Combat Theater section of AH or when I am online in the MA. I fly under the handle listed here and am the CO of VF-17 The Jolly Rogers in the game. If you see another "VF-17 Jolly Rogers" squadron in AH2 thats not my group but they are good guys.
Let me know if I can help and keep trying the game guys. |

I agree with the stick intensive, but i love it. my cyborg evo is starting to go out (not bad holding up to a yearish of Jumpgate and now 3 months of AH). Reguardless im going to the x45. it's just a good excuse.
All the auto things you can turn off. I don't remember all the commands though. your auto-takeoff can be turned off in the settings i belive, and also by shaking your stick a little. Auto-climb is just for those people who don't want to sit there holding thier stick in b-24's climbing to 30k. it's an option to use (alt-x to enguage). auto-level is another option so you don't have to hold your stick all the time on long flights. also so you can man the bomber or gunner positions in planes without a pilot. again it's voluntary (x to enguage). You can set your climb and leave it with shift-x. I don't remember the command to turn off combat trim, but i think it's in settings also. you can manually adjust all surfaces (elevators, ailerons, flaps, rudder, ect) via keyboard or map it to your JS (x45-52 have alot of buttons for such things). Yeah it's graphics are kinda bland, but look at jumpgate lol. if you can get a video card that can handle it the graphics are quite good in ah. I tried it on a friends new computer and it was sweet. animated water and such. most of the screenshots you see are on lesser cards with settings turned down to conserve FPS. Anyways, ya'll give it a try. You'd even be suprised to see that i can still count the number of times i've said NASCAR on 1 hand after 3 months flying. |

hehe, ground vehicles rock. I've been doing more fighter stuff trying to get a good handle on my new X45. mostly flying 51-d's and some corsair. took up a lala for base defense and a spit just to play with handling. all in all i miss my twisty rudder control but past that the x45 is far superior. gv's i've got an awsome setup now and am m3'ing real good. same for m8's. 60mph ducking and darting between multiple 88mm rounds to get point blank shots on panzer turrets is a hell of alot of fun. that and running an ostwind at a vulched spawn point wiping out a20's and hurricanes is a blast. i can just imagine the cussing im getting for ruining thier vulching.
yeah i've said nascar afew times. but nowhere near as much as "GIT ER DONE!" and "Hammer down, Hammer down, this m3's headed to town!" Now if innomin8 would just hook me up with those rudder pedals i'd be pimpin the skies. |

I tried this game for the first time last night.
Had a lot of fun with it! But now I'm worried, my x52 is brand new..... what do you mean it's going to break? It would be nice to find some people to fly with when I get better. My handle in game is Anthro, as asterix was already taken. ps. I did see a player named Aircow... I yelled out a Moo! thinking/hoping it was maybe CaptainCow but it wasn't ![]() |

Astrix, change country to Rooks, and tune one of your radio channels to 114 (i have mine set to /) thats where the old Jumpgate crew resides. we'd be happy to fly around and let you figure out what's what. Im on quite a bit. we have alot of late night flyers (11pm central on to about 3am central). some of our players are currently out due to them all meeting up in toronto to get drunk and look at strippers (RangerW, Aubrey, Lovemonk, and a couple of others i think). It's not uncommon to see texmurphy on during the day due to his being over the sea thus it's his evening hours. Wolfden, Ilk, Karash, Myself, and Wolf14 are generally on evenings to late nights depending on our work schedual and other ack.
Most important, don't get discouraged! theres alot of content as far as planes, skills, and learning what each plane dose compared to the others and what skills (ACMs) you gotta learn. IE: I wouldn't dare take a F4U-1D straight up in the air (roping) against a P38. I also wouldn't try to run straight from an La7. I wouldn't try to turnfight an A6M or Ki-84. each plane has strong points and weak points that you've got to sit down and learn how to handle the other planes. You'll likley hear alot of different suggestions on planes, cause everyone has thier type of plane they like, and that's what they try to get you to fly. I'd say corsairs (F4U series), wolf14 would prolly say P47's or P51b's. Karash would likley say Ki-84's. Also, there are plenty of non-flying positions to enjoy. I had alot of fun last night manning an 8" turret on a destroyer in a naval battle. 2 carrier groups goin at it. Or 5" flak turrets shooting down enemy planes trying to dive bomb your carrier. Last night also, wolf14 and i snuck 2 panzers onto an enemy vehicle base where we leveled it, sat in ambush, killed an enemy panzer, and releveled the base. then an enemy plane came and bombed us out. There is also field guns (37mm flak), the Flak panzers which are mobile 37mm ack. the m16 which is a quad 50caliber machine gun turret which is mounted on a halftrack. The M3 which is a halftrack used to run supplies to friendly bases, extra ammo to friendly tanks, and commando troops to take over enemy bases. Also you can bail out of your airplane and open your chute, float to the ground, and try shooting stuff with your colt .45 lol. Theres tons of stuff to do, just gotta figure out what you like. I am mostly a GV guy (Ground Vehicles). Wolf14 is mostly a bomber guy. Aubrey is mostly running into things, and Karash is a fighter guy. We all can do the other stuff, but it makes the team more rounded thus that much more effective. Anyways, give us a yell on 114 and we'll be glad to help out. |

Oh, and the reason they are sayin your x52 will break, is this is a really joystick intensive game. You use your keyboard 5% of the time with the exception of text chatting. My cyborg evo seemed to hold up decently, and this X45 isn't a month old yet. However people advised me on my x45 to purchase the replacement plan. So I did, just incase.
Another thing I forgot to mention is vox (voice chat). Set you V channel (the one all the way to the right when you bring up your radio channels. default /) and put it on 114 to talk to us literally. in the middle of a fight, you don't wanna be letting go of your throttle or stick to type in something, I set my vox's to my mouse cursor hat on the throttle. Up is for 114, down is for range. Range text and vox don't need to be setup, they talk to any friendly within about 8k of you. very useful. Also make sure to set a Check 6 button so you can just point at a guy in trouble and push it to let him know he's in danger if range vox is real busy. |
