ToD is actually a whole new way to play the game its gonna be career based RPG where you play the role of a pilot in a historical campaing. Its gonna be mission based and its all gonna be about mission success and just about kills.

I cant believe you guys are playing Aces High. For the same amount of money you can be playing a war game that incorporates not only air but infantry, navy, tanks, atg, aaa and the map is literally the size of europe with no load screens. The learning curve is high, but the game is incredibly deep and there is a winner. The map resets and everyone slugs it out again.
Sol Navy is playing world war ii online. Were French.. hey, its the closest thing to being solrain! ![]() Aces High 2.. pfft. Come play a real mans game. http://www.wwiionline.com Cheers! alphie |

There has been a group of a few folks who have tried both WWIIOL and AH. They all end up comming back to AH. Martlett even said that the flight model is better in AH and that is what attracks me to AH is the flight model.
At some point I'll try it, but until then I'll kinda watch everybody else go over there and then come back. Hell the only group I wish would go over there and stay there are the LTARS. ***quick edit*** Sol Navy is over there. I wont be goin. |

The ones that leave probably dont stay with it long enough to know how to play the game. It has a very steep learning curve, which is unfortunate, because it affects a lot of people like you mentioned. They get frustrated and quit because they get killed and theres no death cam to show you who shot you and you cant soak up bullits like in quake. Its really like a real war. The peeps who are careful and take their time are the ones that are victorious because one shot can kill you so you have to fight with that philosphy in mind. In the air its the same way. Get high so that you can trade altitude for E and constantly scan for the enemy. Practice basic ACM, aim/leading your target and situational awareness and you will usually wind up victorious. The bombing missions are great fun because you are actually affecting the supply of the enemy. You bomb a factory and decrease its production, guess what, there are less equipment for the enemy to use. The ground forces are concerned with capturing towns and extending the front line. This is an excellent opportunity for air to provide CAS and paratroops for helping to liberate towns. Its much much deeper than spawning into a small game world and just fighting other aircraft. There is a helluva lot more going on here and a decent size squad/guild can actually make a difference in the overall outcome of the war. If I just want to fight other aircraft, Ill play IL2. Quote:

However, I enjoy the role of aircraft in WWIIOL much better. It's much more tied in with the overall game. Paratroopers. bombers. fighters. escorts that actually make a difference. hello? |

Well, its all up to the individual on what they like to do. Heck, your spending your money, you have a right to get enjoyment out of it.
Im just puttin it out there that if any of you ole jumpgaters wants to try WWIIOL, your more than welcome to play with us if ya want. Personally, I just like games to be deeper than air only. But thats just me. Today is the last day to sign up for 14 days free. If you want to try it out, nows the time. If you want to fight along with some old friends, or more likely old enemies, then your welcome to come along and Ill show you how the game works.. Its just an offer, wasnt trying to start a flame thread or anything. Peace, alphy |

Alph I understand where your commin from, hell I do the same thing. You say that you want something deeper than just air. AH has a ground game as well they just dont have a fps infantry.
I am curious though about the ground stuff, cause the LTARS left AH all fired up about going to WWIOL that had a better ground game than AH. They came back after about 8 months. I like the LTARS about as much as I like Sol Navy that I never really bothered to ask. Really when you get down to it I feel that when they are compared its an issue of apples and oranges. People will stick to what they like best. |
