Yes Airwar gets better if there is a good ground war to tie it in with. But for me its more important that Airwar is good then that its well tied in with the ground war.

JABOing is fun and quite frankly Im getting really good at it. So yeah it would be fun to have a more involved ground game. But the air game is so good in AH2 that nothing comes close to it. What makes it so good? Flight model, View model and Built in voice coms.

Ive not played WWII Online other then just test flown their spitfire to feel the flight model. This was along time ago but the flight model was very unimpressive and miles behind AH2 and quite far behind Il2 as well at that time.

Since then IL2 has taken a major step forward and finally implemented torque but its still too much of a planes on rails flight model.

Many *think* IL2 has a better flight model just because the air plane controlls are more detailed (cowl flaps and fuel mixtures) but that has nothing what so ever to do with the flight model. When it comes to flight physics AH2 is still top of the class.

IL2 is for me totally unplayable due to the horrible view system. Once you have tried AH2s 6DOF views you dont wana go back to anything less. Its like going back to black and white tv after having watched a HD TV.

Coms are virtually as important as views and since AH2 is still the only flight sim I know of with built in voice coms its top of the class even here. There is a HUUUUUUUGE benefit of beeign able to voice communicate with everyone in range of the proxy based radio. In AH2 you have 2 voice channels, one is the proxy based and one is tunable to any custom frequency. Outstanding, top of the class.

So as I said... my prio is Air war and the game with the best flight model, the best views and integrated voice coms will always have my attention over its lesser counter parts.

Is anyone still playing this. I downloaded the free trail and got lost in the first 2 minutes. I'm going to spend some time reading AH forums, and hopefully I'll get the hang of how that game works in a hurry.

My handle was Hurrcane. But then I finally got a plane off the ground and realized that no way my joystick and this game was going to get alone. My old Microsoft Precision Pro works decently for jumpgate, but it extremely erratic in AH. I calibrated Joystick both out of game and in, but there was no controlling my plane.

Hurricane if you go into your advanced settings for your joystick you can adjust the deadzone areas as well as your axis curves to make your joystick work. I use an older MSFF 2 that I had to do adjust my deadband on and have had no other issues.
