Thanks for ruining my day. Next you'll tell me there's no Santa Claus.

Regarding flight styles, civ rips and Reece's decision . . .

Though my opinions on Quantar's Shame are pretty well known, I don't generally support the concept that any one pilot or group of pilots should tailor their fight/flight style to make fighting "fun" for their opponents. I have no arguments with "flying to win" if you fly fair. To me, this simply presents an opportunity to find a counter-strategy.

I do agree that taking oneself too seriously is part of the problem here. OOC civ rips are pathetic, but unless they are repeated occurrences, they are (IMO) not "griefing" -- and therefore would not warrant GM intervention. The best idea is to keep one's second accounts anonymous, to avoid this problem.

If the civ target (GG) was resupplying an "enemy" (and this is verified by scan), then I'd say it's not necessarily OOC and since I have never been a subscriber to the whole "fun-fighting" concept (where cutting off supply lines is a BAD thing) then I'd have a hard time condemning the rip.

In any case, I'm sorry to see GG/Reece leave.

I hate seeing Reece go too, now I have no competition on getting the coveted Fertility Expert title, hell, I don't even "try" for it anymore. On the weekends I used to get up no matter how bad my hangover was just to fly several hours with my friend, now I get up hoping he is back. I remember one weekday, a day from hell at work, I logged in to his screaming LAUNCH LAUNCH!!! and I didn't in time. He started his banter on F2 and continued on TS when I logged in to it. I forgot about my day at work and laughed through out the evening even after he logged. Actually I remember more times but I ain't airing any more sentimental anecdotes, he was just a good wingman and Solidarity has lost a good pilot and friend. Come talk to us on TS when you can bro and maybe in Ohio we can help you feel the need to log back in to fly with us. Peace

Please come back Reece. I have been logging in every sunday for the 'slaughter solidarity sunday' that you had announced and I have been dissapointed that you have not been there for me to shoot you. All my favorite fights in jumpgate are against the sols and when you are in the heavy fighter its always fun

Ignore Gent and his green pest whore gank boys, you are right they are no fun, but sod them, I still have fun fighting you guys

Hope to slaughter you on a sunday soon.

If the point of PvP is not fun for all, then what is the point of PvP? Fun for just me? And if the other guy doesn't have fun, how long does he keep launching? And if the other guy doesn't launch, then how much fun can I have? So even "fun for me" relies upon "fun for all" to be sustainable.

The obvious counter-strategy to the MFer fighting style is to fly our own FFlee ships and bail out of every fight that starts to go badly. But those fights are not nearly as fun even if we do win. Thus one usually does not see the Octs in all Ravens or every Sol in the Tens. Also, a significant portion of our Tens pilots fly a heavy Tens (Deepol, Alpaa and Ions/Ammo TM is 87.4/86.5 vs chaining Thorn Tens with Cascade TM of 99.7) which makes them a lot more killable (speaking from recently flying both Tens configs while outnumbered).

Attacking supply lines, while a valid RL tactic is counter productive in Jumpgate where the fun of PvPing is the only tangible goal of PvP. Now if non-combat ships weren't made of glass, maybe people like me would consider them worthy targets. But probably not since it still requires so much RL time and effort to mine/haul/produce/restock due to the FUBAR econ which is exceptionally fragile with our tiny playerbase. We just need more people.

We had more people, which led us to here. Fundamental changes need to be made at this point. Sadly, it took me 5 years to realize Netdevil has no intention of making those fundamental changes. It's more important to them for there to be no penalty for the occasional civ-rip than preventing people from running others out of the game.

I predict that even if this graphics update brings in tons of new people without fundamental changes to non-combat ship design you'll be back here in less than a year and a half.

Cant say I have seen eye to eye with you all of the time, but it’s a sad day when some one such as your self who puts a lot of time and rl effort into Jumpgate, quits ( or with luck takes a breather ) due to the actions of one pilot, who has a doctrine all of his own it would seem. I hate to tar the whole of QH with the same brush but I just cant help it.

Any way take care mate and don’t let the bastards wear you down.

I remember, and hope these days return, of putting together hunter squads to go after pilots like Rolio and ect... I wish there were more people in the game to handle stuff like this. Maybe after Netdevil makes some of the changes its promising more people will start playing again...

I still think its very impressive and a testiment that the game has been online for as long as it has.
