Assassin's Creed
In this game you play a bartender named Desmond who's been kidnapped by some major company and is being held captive to relive genetic memories of his assassin ancestor.
From what I gathered, you have to assassinate 9 people with increasingly dubious motivation for the assassinations. I only got a 3rd of the way through, as the game was a rental ![]() In-between assassination 'chapters' you switch back to the trapped bartender to have modern-time storyline revealed to you. To me, this was more frustrating than fun, and would have been bettered served by some other storytelling device....cut scenes or something. I found the game itself somewhat repetitive, and the excessive time it took to travel to each city was a pain...but at least you don't have to travel back to base after each assassination. I also couldn't find a way to turn captions on for the speaking parts, which was frustrating because people in the room with me seemed to want to talk at the same time that story cut scenes were playing. There are 3 things that cause me to recommend this game. First, pulling off stealth assassinations is always a good time. Second, they have a unique control scheme where all you have to do is hold the right trigger and the 'a' button and the character will do all sorts of neat things to get where you're going. Also good times. Lastly, the story seemed relatively interesting. Notsomuch the modern-day part, but the ancestor part has me interested. I'll probably end up renting it again just to see how all of that turned out. It's a really bloody game about killing, probably not best for children under 14. |

Re: Assassin's Creed
That's the bummer about rentals.

Re: Assassin's Creed
when are console games going to start doing the online d/l thing rather than have a disk?
(I'm not a console user, so maybe they already are?) |

Re: Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed is going to be available on Steam as of April 9th. Steam must be doing something right, lot's of companies seem to be jumping on their wagon. The bioshock people, ubisoft, atari, the unreal tournament folks, Dawn of War.
To be honest I thought it was going to be a pain when every developer came out with a steam-like ap of their own, but I sit corrected. |

Re: Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed would have been better if they had not done the "future" storyline. Done some research into the crusade's and built it along the lines of a assassin going to the holy lands to wash him self clean but get's caught up in a church plot.
