Cap on Squad Members

Ok, this isn't exactly a surefire way to avoid faction imbalance or the "Synergy Scenario" (actually TDP back in the day was much worse), but putting a cap on the number of players able to join a single squad (dependent on server population) could concievably go a long way to keeping the pirates and factionalists honest.

Thoughts?

Re: Cap on Squad Members

Bad idea. It's meant to be a multiplayer game.
I don't get the glowing fondness of some of the former squads mentioned such as Synergy etc. Synergy were basically an English speaking Balrog, only they had some "cool guys" so the carebears that got ripped by em thought it was "cool". I always found it strange when in ISU that Ridge didn't want to go after them, but I guess cool kids didn't want to fight each other as someone's ego might get bruised.
OV would have taken either.

Regards
Al

Re: Cap on Squad Members

No. if the squad boss wants to limit the number of members in his/her squad then so be it but forced caps is a bad idea.

Re: Cap on Squad Members

No I don't agree with this. What I would like to see is a minimum.

It should take three leaders to form a squad, and all can have access to squad page in case one disappears. Then they should have so many days to recruit till they get to at least 5 members. Otherwise the squad is disolved.

All these two pilot squads flying around is a bunch a crap and makes it too confusing. A squad should be a squad.

They would just use Teamspeak to get around the limit.

QFT

No upper limit, but make a minimum of at least 5. I would say higher, but thats up to debate.

rofl Synergy was hardly an English speaking Balrog, that comparison doesn't even make sense.

Ridge didn't want to go after Synergy because why would ISU fight Synergy? They were in no way hindering us or really supportive of TRI. It wouldn't have made much sense.

Re: Cap on Squad Members

Minimum cap on squads maybe. upper limit? hell no!

Part of my pride in having -=MACK=- tags is that it was such a huge squad. And having backup, or at least someone to talk to, whenever I logged on was a major plus for me

OT:

@Seph
mmm... Ridgeway. That guy could fly the crap out of a battle tow. The ISU/SN fights were a hoot.

God I hated you guys! hehe

I didnt like Synergie either.. I think their RP was to not have an RP. If they stood for something, I could never tell what it was. They were like the Seinfeld of Jumpgate.
