Oct Core should be like a freakin' Death Star (That's no moon!) -- and it probably SHOULD have some AI turrets that track you (but don't necessarily shoot) as you dock.
Sol Core should be a gleaming, Star-Trek-esque monolithic space station painted white with lots or window ports, blinking lights and such. Stations should have moving trams, turbolifts and perhaps even wee little people working on them. |

I always felt that the corporations should have their headquarters in the Core sectors as well. Perhaps with their own missions and such and some "special" equipment for those with enough fame/notoriety/PR or whatever.

I like Ambro's concept the best for Oct Core. "We are Warriors" is the theme. Weapons emporiums, brothels, second-hand stores (everyone is down on their luck from time to time). It shouldn't be drab, run-down or archtypical Redneck but it should shout "War is our business". Slim you have a good vision of it too, with all the tribal banners etc.
With all the Roman hints/tips etc I can also see something in Roman Empire chic. You want it to say "Empire" as well as "Warrior". The stuff on Sol Core sounds about right. Quant Core should also have temples etc. to go with the asteroid architecture. They are the religious fanatics after all. Perhaps something along the lines of Constanople, Jerusleum or Mecca? Religious Warriors and fanatics. There should also be something of the down-trodden/beggars/souks and bazzars to it as well. |

Passage 4.5990 from "TRI Privateer Travel, a Guide of Stations in TRI Space"
Octavian Core Station aka ‘Consul's Fortress’: An alpha class station named after the First Prefect and Consul to the Greater Emperor. ‘Oct Core’ oversees the main control of Empire shipping and serves as a focal point for all Octavian commerce. The station is big, VERY BIG. Not sleek at all, more like a floating brick and just about as rough around the edges. However, there is a sort of lost grandeur about the station, with intricate 'carvings', well placed hero busts, and the ominous glow of red track lighting around the station. The station armor has visible weapon damage, and every nook and cranny seems to be filled with defensive turrets. AI class drones constantly patrol around the station and gates in sectors unlike other faction core space. Slow moving wreckage dots the sector so that even the most experienced hauler has a dicey run when setting up a docking run. The station is an expression of a forgotten power...or slumbering giant depending on your opinion.... |
