Core Sectors
DISCLAIMER: This thread is about visual eye candy and not about your ability to play your way so stay on topic please.
![]() Looking at the concept art for Quantar Core was pretty inspiring. It reminded me of thoughts I have had since the first time I launched in Jumpgate beta. The core sectors above all need to be the coolest in the game both architecturally and in activity. They in fact do represent the core of the civilization. This is where it all began and it should be impressive. A couple little stations is not impressive and does not represent a society that has been advancing and growing for some time. The core sectors should represent the power and culture of that faction. Now with Quantar it's always been easy. Rocks are cool and stuff built into them are even cooler. But how can the other factions be distinctive? A blue and red tint just don't cut it. Solrain Core: This station should be huge. These are the money brokers and tycoons of the space lanes and I expect their space metropolis to be impressive. When you fly to Sol Core you should be flying down an avenue of structures that give it a city feel. Maybe even have them connected with trans tubes and such. I would like to see financial institutions and luxury hotels and such. Even if you can't dock at them there should be the obvious accumulation of wealth. There could be banks and financial institutions that you can dock at to get a loan or something when times are bad. Have hotel type structures where you can dock and log off, no fuel or ammo though. Have an employment agency where you can get missions, etc. You could also have specific missions to supply these places. And Casino's. ![]() Octavius Core: I never played as an Oct so I won't tread on their world but there are lot of RP things you could have as buildings in their Core Sectors as well. Any ideas? Quantar Core: Looks impressive but I would like to see more structres in the local rocks. Each with a different purpose. The point is, they should all be impressive in their own unique way. When someone who has never played Jumpgate logs into Jumpgate Evolution for the very first time and launches they should freak out and pee their pants. First impressions are everything in life and in games. So when they launch they should know they have signed up for something special and that they represent a civilization to be proud of. I think that kind of thing has the most lasting appeal. |

Re: Core Sectors
Awesome view would be Sol Core if it were that way, kinda like a Las Vegas sort of view right? And I definitely agree, core stations should be that place where you want to be all the time, that makes you drool when you see it and at the same time sad when ur leaving the place.
I just hope Oct Core gets a nice treatment and that we dont get a too dark theme. I'd expect more rust in uneg and the feeling of a night club in a dark place and such for that area of space taht unreg is. ELP |

Re: Core Sectors
oct core - floating fortress. with AI turrets even! LOL j/k.
sol core - floating city a-la the empire strikes back. quant core - concept art looked cool, but i don't think the quants deserve anything that cool looking. they should have some sort of shack on a tiny little asteroid or something instead. oh yeah, and only one quant can be sitting in station at one time. yeah, quants suck. |

Re: Core Sectors
Oct core should resemble some redneck's front yard. A beat-up old station with old ships floating around the front yard on blocks. Oh yes, and a half-built engine swinging from a subspace transceiver on a chain. That should just about do it!!

Re: Core Sectors
I think..
Sol core ... Smooth, effecient, and sleek. I could see cramped quarters and a definate caste system of the has and has not. It would look beautiful on the surface but have that under tone of a slave labor market. I could definately picture it as being like a city on top but that city rests upon the true civilization in an oppressive slum. It would look like this giant orb with a forcefield around it. In the middle of it you would have this elegant, sleek, smooth and just gorgous city floating in mid air.. under the floating city you would have slums. Dark, dreery, depressing to look at. Octs for some reason I always pictured them just hobbling together various bits of junk left by someone else. For me they seem sort of like scavengers who live in that post appocolyptic setting. They have the means of space travel but they didn't do it themselves. They kicked the crap out of the first race to visit them and built ships from that wreckage. From that point on they scavenged more and more tech from various places and bent/forced it till it fit together. Quantar.. exactly like they showed. I always like Corridor and Tripoint station way more then the original Q Core. Living within asteroids is just cool. |

Re: Core Sectors
Oct core: Floating in the void above an environmentally ravaged planet, I see Oct core as a dirty looking and slightly haphazard gathering of industrial buildings with an overwhelming military look. Octavian bullish attitudes extended into their station construction methodologies with no thoughts for traditional aesthetics, just cold functionality and an appearance that their space environment being taken by force, against its will and held so.
Hull eating clouds and flame bursts are a daily hazard near their stations and stop still too long and your ship may well be commandeered by station recycling crews and turned into the latest blast furnace for creating the next evolution of stupidly powerful weapon. |

Re: Core Sectors
I see tribal banners, flying,, heros busts, watching, the emperor's shield above the docking tube.. and structure befiting a empires status.
I had that once, In prison. But the shot of Q core,, is a dream come true,, if you ask me. And if the other core stations are done along with that factions story line, its gona be sweet. |
