Re: Derelicts....

Oh...NICE idea.

If desired, you could spawn them once in a blue moon in a random sector using the mechanics described here - Mining v2.1

I do like the concept alot..actually, remove artifacts from the game and have the chance for one or multiple artifacts/components etc be "discoverable" in the wreckage itself.

Nice idea.

Re: Derelicts....

Why not derelict small craft (fighters, transports, shuttles, etc.) as well, and if your really lucky and have the facilities to do so, you can tow the derelict to a station and refurbish it back into operation.

Might actually make TOWs live up to their name

Re: Derelicts....

It would be really cool if Jumpgate Evolution kept ships that have been destroyed, floating in the sector for a set amount of time.

It would be wild to travel through a sector after a big fight and see wreakage floating around from a big battle that took place earlier.

Of course it should be play tested to make sure these "hulks" dont adversely affect performance... oh and they should be collidable.

Re: Derelicts....

I'd be willing to try it, but speaking from experience artys are as solid as a roid. I splashed on the first arty I ever found due to a piloting error.

Re: Derelicts....

I agree with alphabet but Id like to expand on it.

Salvaging destroyed ships should be possible with tow + tractor gun.

A ship wreck could contain a working gun, a working shield, capacitor, engine or what ever. This would create a way for pirates, merces and neutrals to stock their stations. Itīd be dangerous as hell but quite alot of fun, at least I think it would be.

Re: Derelicts....

I'd like to be able to use a ranger and tractor gun since they have decent sized cargo.

Re: Derelicts....

This is a cool idea that we talk about all the time. Not sure if its even possible but this is for sure high on the wish list.

It would be awesome to come into an area after a huge fight and see the aftermath. Wolf 359 anyone?

It would also be cool to go in and mine the ship remains as well.

Re: Derelicts....

It would be even cooler if you had derelict stations that (maybe in lieu of POS's) you could find, claim, and repair with RB's and deliveries of basic commodities. Once repaired, you have a station...

...until someone takes it from you, or blows it up again.

Re: Derelicts....

I know Eve has a salvaging system in place...quite a few players make a living off it.
