Re: Emma: The Legend Must Live on in Jumpgate Evolution
Before I begin, Jump, I am NOT the guy at that site that says Emma was never moved.
However, I fail to see where she was moved at all. When I first joined beta in 2000, I was warned by my squadmates that joined at the same time as me (but had faster downloads) about that 'damned roid'. So, I kept an eye out, and saw her. Quickly I ran some tests to see at what orientation I could put my ship from the getgo to avoid her, albeit a small shave on the side, without having to alter my course at all. After a several tries I got a handle on two ship orientations, one for each direction, and I never hit Emma....and I didn't have to change course. Well, I never hit Emma during regular flights through the sector, but I did smack her really hard one day while I was fighting a sentient squid. I was in an Oct Scout...so I didn't really have the greatest turning speed, and eventually, after a gripping circle dance, the sentient led me right into her. I guess you could say that the sent led the pig to the slaughter... What really threw me for a loop was when they increased the view distance. At that point I thought that she might have been moved, but I figured that it just 'seemed' that way since you could now actually see her and your target gate all the way across the sector. After I attempted my old flight path, nothing appeared to have changed. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I just don't see it. |

Some people remember some don't. It's too bad the old content on the JOSSH forums got wiped by THEMIS.
