Enhanced Reputation System for Jumpgate Evolution
stripped from a thread where it didn't really belong
Imagine if you had a reputation for every faction and every corporation. Say you attacked a quant hauler, in amananth, running a mission for Hyperial that was added to the mission computer by Annhilitec. You'd lose reputation with quantar for downing their civ, aman for downing a civ in their space, and Annhilitec for interfering with their mission runners. However, you'd gain reputation with Octavius (at war with Quantar), and Tens & Piney (at "war" with Annhilitec)...... Then the only thing left to decide would be what effects to reputations have? Prices on stations? What groups you can affiliate yourself with? Who shows up as enemy in your radar? Further, I'd like to see groups of squads be able to form guilds. For example, a bunch of mining squads group together and start a the Dead Space Mining mining guild, after meeting the strict guild formation requirements. That gives them a reputation meter, and they can interact with corporations and factions on a whole new level (large guild-size contracts from factions, war with corporations, etc.). |

Re: Enhanced Reputation System
I actually really liked this aspect of EVE. Thought it was very clever and well thought out. You could see the standings of other pilots, and there were some benefits to improving your own standing. The thing I really liked about it though was that it wasn't a grind to raise your standings. You could do lots of different kinds of missions. In Jumpgate Evolution, you could even get standings boosts just for killing members of opposing factions, to go with the PvP focus.

Re: Enhanced Reputation System
It would be more realistic to see a wide veariety of reputations per player. A new player would have a slight good rep with his orginization or race, but have to earn with everyone else. Someone who repeatedly civs in their own space would loose faction from their own people. After a while prices you paid would skyrocket, some places would refuse you acess, etc. If you mine and sell to everyone equaly, then your rep grows across the board, soon your welcome everywhere, everyone loves a provider. I like it cause it gives meaning to what you do, not just dead air between our ears with no meaning.
