If you eliminate ffs, then ABs must be faster on the slower ships of the same class. Then there is no sure escape from the slower factions fighter.

I would not mind seeing FFs go away. But if they are kept they should have more drawbacks. For example:

- weight
- expense
- damage to engine (if equipment dmg is brought in)
- . . . etc.

I would love to see the damage added to FF's.
Even if they wanted to keep it simple you could just add slight damage to the armor to represent the structural strain of accelerating the ship past specs.

I always liked FF's (even though I often died with them in the racks).
They could really prolong a fight, which I always thought was a good thing.

I disagree. I see FFs as a way for light ships to kill heavy ships when that would otherwise not be possible, as well as a way for heavy ships to kill light ships...when that would also otherwise not be possible. I think this core mechanic of a limited resource that can tip a fight is a good thing.

How would it be possible, for example, to kill someone flying around in a Peri without FFs?

The fact that current fights in Jumpgate are never more than FF distance away from a POS (which does make fights very lame) is, I think, another issue.

I like what Karash is talking about. I was never a fan of the FF that went away, just because it was such a drag on a good fight. But with POS the way they are I can totally see how rechargable FFs would be insanity. *shrug*

That is my point. Light ships should not be able to take head on heavier ships. It should take more skills than FF whoring.

This should bring that variaty to the fleets that have been talked about for a long time.

@peri

Maybe this is why you need scouts in your own fleet, too.

Just try to fight in sim w.o flashfires and see how that feels.

They should stay in the game because...

a) they're fun
b) they're fun
c) they're fun

Its the type of "lets make it a realistic economy, work, sweat and bleed for 10 hours to fight for 1, death should mean something mentality" that has killed all fun in this game.

You dont like FFs, well dont use them. But dont take something fun out of the game because you think it should be that way. We tried it once your way with EP2 and see where that got us. How about we leave the fun stuff in this time, mmkay?

Flashfires add needed depth to combat. Like making non nix/nado/dragon ships actually flyable.

Had FF's never existed this discussion would be moot.

The one attempt at removing them was met with high resistance due to having experienced flight with them.

Had we never had that experience, we wouldn't even complain nor consider the possibility of "what if there was an addon device that could give me added thrust at a whim.
