Re: How to make Jumpgate what it was
Doesnt matter to me. If I wanted a stationary station, id rather just adopt a factional station. Especially since, while I looked forward to POSes, the POSes that were actually given to us were complete dissapointments.
I want to be able to mine ore, refine it at my station, take the resources I get out of it, and use it to either manufacture higher-level commods or starship components. Instead, POSes end up being a R/R/R and Market site, as well as a place to remotely sell ore to your faction. POSes had no purpose other than that. |

Re: How to make Jumpgate what it was
God, as much as I hate to say it, Liet is absolutely, 100% right.
I don't know about other factions but back in the day Quantar really had a sense of community for the exact reasons Liet said. That lingering loyalty I got from that experience has never left me. But what if a player came in to Jumpgate now? Would they get that same diehard loyalty that only comes from banding together in times of danger? I don't think they would. This is something that should be looked at extremely seriously. |

I met the squad I've hung out with for 4 years now when I joined them in chasing some lamers at Quantar Corridor, then during the patrol afterwards I get blindsided, take down the guy who got me, and get invited ![]() If my squad hadn't had a reason to patrol, would it have happened? If I hadn't felt a need to become a part of the defense of my faction, would it have happened? On and on and on. The original Jumpgate only survived at ALL because the community was so damned good, because the missions sure as hell weren't worth a damn. |

Re: How to make Jumpgate what it was
Chasing a civ ripper every time he launched is entertainment, not revenge. Everything is supposed to take skill in Jumpgate, why are ANY of you opposed to making civ-ripping take skill by making the miners and haulers tougher/able to fight back?

Re: How to make Jumpgate what it was
I loved how infamous someone could get if they stripped a station. That person was hated by the whole faction, let alone the whole server forever. As cool as POSs sounded, they did ruin all the things Liet described. The only redeeming factor I can see is the ship hangar and how it made the storage of shiploadouts/artiships easier.
Simply take what Hurricane and Liet said together, and I should have POS-style modx that I can buy at faction stations. I can store my arti gust at QC and fly my Quantar-only equipped phoon in defense of the station, then switch back to mining without having to grab engines at Tri Point, THEN flying back to Corridor station... ugh. |

Re: How to make Jumpgate what it was
I wouldn't mind POS being removed at all. Good idea's Liet, pity about the brash "German" comment alienating EU people from this thread.
