Jumpgate Evolution Anomalies and Flux Space

As we all know, conflux usually spawn from anomalies (if sector has one). I was thinking about it and how flux space currently is linked to our normal map in 2 points and it came to me that perhaps anomalies could be used to send conflux to our space if a certain condition was met, which eventually could lead to a number of changes on it and eventually (if pilots do nothing about it) the anomaly would transform into a Conflux Gate (of course, allowing it to connect to Flux space as well.).

Perhaps anomalies could change colors/form while is in use and so explorers and observers could then take action or prepare an assault or whatever is needed so that the gate doesnt convert to a conflux gate.

The anomaly could in one of those phases change to an infest looking and if conditions are well for it... later transform into a Conflux Gate.

Thoughts?

PS: I'd wish that conflux space, or at least a part of it, would be available thru the internal map.

Re: Anomalies and Flux Space

I like it. In fact it would be a great place to have "unexplored sectors" pop up. It would could also create missions in the computer to go nuke "gate creation in progress" to give pilots a heads up on what is happening.

Of coarse for an explorer to get into that gate once its already formed will be extremely hard I would think. there need to be patrol flux there to try and keep people out of their space.

Personally I don't like how the flux space can be mapped. I don't think I spent more than a day in flux space before I got bored with the concept and stopped going.

By making the anomalies go to random sectors it could add a little spice to it.

Maybe later if we start winning the war on the flux we can build technology that will allow us to build gates into flux space using the anomalies and then allow us to take the war to them, and allow the people who want to explore the ability to map out the sectors through faction missions.

Re: Anomalies and Flux Space

I think this is a really good concept, but could perhaps be taken further. What about player-operated observation posts to keep an eye on the anomalies. Missions to observe the anomalies, and maybe even research on finding ways for opposing factions to encourage an anomaly to turn into a Gate via Top Secret Covert Operation Technology Sneakiness (TM). Seeing factions use the Flux as a kind of biological weapon. Perfect crime...everyone blames the flux, and gives opposing factions a "peaceful" excuse to send war ships into enemy space.

Badger, you're not playing Jumpgate Classic yet are you? (Think scan anomaly missions).

No I've just been messing around with the simulator once in a while.

No joystick + crazy law school work = no time.

*goes back into lurk mode*

No no, badger, I didn't mean to slam you but to encourage you to get in there. I've played the last 3 years now using a mouse. While a JoyStick is a definite asset, it's not required. Get out of lurk mode and try Jumpgate Classic while it's still here to try! It takes less than no time to make a tranny from one station to another. Once you level up, you can run an arty pattern in an hour or less. Mining takes hardly anytime at all in the lower levels.

Come on in, the water is fine and the alligators are (mostly) friendly...

Re: Anomalies and Flux Space

I use mouse have done for the last 6 odd years of on and off Jumpgate love affair.

As for the flux gates and Anomalies, the ones in flux space are in fact gates in growth, as flux gates with all things Conflux organic, I like the idea and always thought that the anomalies within flux space should have grown into gates into new sectors, be it into TRI space or the Conflux home worlds but are the Conflux a space born life form and do they have home worlds …….

Lordo wonders off deep in thought….

Like the idea

Re: Anomalies and Flux Space

Thanks Wild_Bill! I will, but I'm still having one bit of hardware trouble. My girlfriend_watching() process is usually active, and that has superuser privileges which shut down non-productivity-related graphics-intensive threads. According to the readme, this is a standard function to free up user resources for other tasks...but I swear this wasn't in the intial Terms of Service.

At the moment, I'm just putting in my two cents as someone who was never a Classic player, but has played a lot of other games and would be in the potential new audience that ND are trying to hit.

Your 2cents is quite welcome here Badger. Don't let us old timers and current players extinguish your afterburners.
