In Jumpgate Evolution will we be doing the construction projects?
In the beginning there were 11 faction stations and 5 faction projects...
I realy miss that. We built everything we use today in the form of back to back faction missions. There were no Duelists, FF, Rotocols, many weapons,equipment, were not available untill the projects were completed. It was a beutiful sight. Looking out the window lines of ships streeming between the gates. The radar had almost solid lines made up of multicolored dots. My GOD it's full of stars Edited |

The way FM have been I dont think many will love to see them back. This may change of course with a large population/playerbase, but still is not something that many of the long time FM runners and brokers might want to do again.
The construction in itself it would be nice if this time we could see a work in progress via AI. I mean like seing AI ships doing the construction work and such. It also would be nice, (If FMs are going to happen) that instead of docking, you could park your cargo ship near the construction and be aproached by a NPC worker and he'd pay you for the stuff that you have brought. Another thing this thread got me to think about is the Lego project. Perhaps they find a way so that its us who can do the construction? Building constructions should be simpler so that we can do it ourselves :P No clue on how to implement btw, but sure would be nice to do something different... Mission: Construction. Grab this support kit and install at the base of bla bla bla, (look at pic). Also, though unrelated, Id wish we could do actual repair work on both buildings and stations. ELP |

Thats one thing I miss about Matt Farming as well. Seeing the entire freaking playerbase in Tows running back in forth. Races were the norm, watching people splash cause they pushed too hard was freaking hilarious. And of coarse watching someone trying to play "traffic control" was entertainment in itself.
I miss watching huge groups of people get together and have organized chaos. |

Construction in my mind, is force fields, turrents, defence AI, around my destroyable pos.
A server wide prompt, would anounce attacks on any pos. I had that once, In prison. |

Grimgriz came up with this idea and I messed with it to turn it into fiction...hmm...everything we are talking about here is fiction...err anyhow
"A dozen OEC pilots where working side by side with other Octavian ships in constructing the new jumpgate around the anomaly. As TRI budgets shrank, the secret Zirgmirg construction laser were released to the general pilot population. Prior to this, TRI construction drones were responsible for all new station and jumpgate construction, but the exponential rate of growth of the rapidly discovered universe quickly outpaced the ability of TRI to keep up with construction demands. The day's of dropping off construction materials to a staging station and allowing the TRI drones to do the work were over. Now faction pilots not only had to accumulate the construction materials for new projects, they also had to load these materials into their holds and fly to the construction location with a Zirgmirg laser equipped and take an active part in building whatever the focus of the day was. The Zirgmirg laser slowly used the commodities as it contributed to the construction of a project. A wire frame holoimage told the pilots where to aim the conlaser and if one watched closely, you could see the solid construct form before your eyes. " Though the various factions could "negatively impact" other factions TRI/Construction missions by attacking AI drones (assuming that will be the route things even go), there is something more appealing with being able to attack actual enemy faction pilots engaged in performing construction activities (or guarding your own factions construction pilots). /shrug |
