Re: Jumping
However if the magnitude of these radio frequencies was high enough, it could cause electrical noise in your ship systems or reverberations in your ship hull. Thus, you would hear noise.

Re: Jumping
In Jumpgate, the external sounds are explained by your computer taking in electromagnetic and gravitonic information from your surroundings, interpret them and play them as sounds to the pilot, in order to give him an audio cue of what is happening.
OT: If there is going to be any kind of jump animation, it should be rendered inside the game engine in a simple fashion to minimize workload for your computer. No videos, but rather a not-too-fancy 3d animation overriding your current view, or perhaps even as simple as an animated bitmap. Make it loop and only play as long as you're actually loading. And of course, make it an option. Any eye candy without real function should always be put in options. |

considering what jumpgates are I imagine theyd have to start with those and then work in any local stars and so on. Youd also have to factor in other ships and stations since their radar has to be 'loud' enough to cut throught the background noise |
