Make the buying process easier....

I was brainstorming some ideas last night on the whole buying process.

Right now, its open a category on the left, click an icon, select how many you want, buy, rinse repeat.

I was thinking something a little smarter.

Same thing, Categories to separate equipment types. But, instead of click, purchase buy, move on to next part, lets try something else.

I picture each item, Icon/Picture on the left, short description top right, price and a quantity box on the bottom right. Put how many you want (default is 0) move to the next category, same thing, until you have everything you want, then you click buy and it all loads into your ship at once.

Also, please nerf that stupid loading animation. I know its to stop speed relaunching, but lets figure something else out, its hella anoying.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

i really think we should have an auto-buy config option, where we can set default configs and buy them all at once (if everything is available).

Another useful option would be the ability to auto-buy your last config before you died.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

Yes, I had thought about that as well but forgot to mention it in this post.

I picture a way to have various configs by ship, so you can have an arti-ranger, a beacon ranger, a PvP ranger, a Fluxing Fighter, an escort Fighter, a PvP fighter, so on and so forth. Each ship would have a certain number of slots for auto-buy that you can name, probably just a series of buttons at the top of the buy window.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

I like the idea of automated setup purchases. What would be cool is if say, your favorite engine is not available, it will automatically locate a set for you and you can then purchase in advance of going to that other station to pick it up. And, you could also arrange it to be transported to your current location if you wish to pay the fee's. Then a mission could be offered in that station. Or it could be broadcast through a haulers co-op to anyone in the area of the source station who is available for hauling. You can set a time limit before an AI will be assigned the job. Of course, your lazy butt will have to pay a premium.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

I dunno about that. Are you really going to wait in a station for someone to figure out there is a mission, pick it up, bring the equipment? Or are you simply going to get the next best thing and fly and get it yourself?

I do like the idea of putting orders in for both commods and equipment stocking, as I stated in one of my millions of other threads, but in this context I think the wait won't be worth it.

What do you think -=MACK=- used to do with all our recruits? We used to send people all over the place to take an engine to the many many people that requested it. Usually you would find the customer in the Sim. And no, we didn't take all day.

If their was some sort of mission board then a hauler could come on line and activate themselves for work. Then they could respond to jobs just like EP's respond to calls for help in chat now. First come first serve. Not real complicated.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

the need for some kind of mission board is very neccessary. in Jumpgate Classic, Istvan added one awhile ago, but noone ever used it because it was basically hidden.

IMO, it would of gotten a lot more use if it was built into a MOTD that appears every time you dock at a station which contains what commods the station needs, where they are currently located, and a listing of player created jobs.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

I would rather sign up for job calls like you do down at the Union hall. Then I can flux or do local stuff and if the broadcast goes out I can take it and go have fun. Provided I answer first of course.

Re: Make the buying process easier....

I will miss the little loader going out and putting things on your ship. However the in station interface is completely different now and hopefully you will find it much faster/easier to use. If not, we keep making it better.

But still, we worked so hard to make the little refueling guy go out and fill 'er up... *salute while taps music plays in the background*
