Make Targets flagable
While reading the radar thread it came to me....
We need a way to mark players as hostile on radar. So many times did I have problems in large battles where I would have to cycle through just as many friendlies as I did enemies to find the person I wanted. Most of the time I would just using the under reticule setting. I wish there was a way when you jumped in a sector that you could start tagging people as enemy, then when you get in the thick of it you can have a bind for next enemy. Sure more will jump in, but you can always use the normal next target bind to find them and tag them as well. Good idea, bad idea? |

Re: Make Targets flagable
Great idea! Even better would be the ability for squad leaders (or their designees) to flag people as hostile to the squad in some kind of offline management console so they'd automatically pop up as hostiles in game. This way the average pilot could avoid running through long lists of pilot names trying to remeber where the politics stand with various groups/pilots.

Re: Make Targets flagable
Are you actualy going to have time to flag them? It would be painful to have to do this for every battle.
It would be nice to be able to flag your enemys via list before you encounter them. The enemy/Friendly (IFF = Is Friend or Foe) list would not be the same as the ignore/friends list. The IFF list would be for the purpose of targeting. You would have a enemy list, and friendly list. The reason for the friendly list is so you can mark entire factions and squads as enemy but allow for exceptions. |

Re: Make Targets flagable
I agree with Bingofuel. It would be excellent to have some kind of "manage friends and enemies" function that was available to you and you could update when docked at a station.
This would help you manage your contacts out of everyone who is online. There are going (hopefully) to be many more players on line in Evo and functionality like this would help you manage your own "local community" much better. |

Re: Make Targets flagable
I like it greatly.
I often forget which of you it is I have made a mental note to kill at some inconvenient moment and often I find I have let wanted people fly by un-aggrieved due to my poor memory. I also like the idea of squad leader(s) being able to set individuals hostile for the whole squad. |

Re: Make Targets flagable
Since it has been indicated that the new interface is written in flash then I would guess it's safe to assume we can leave the old manual text edits behind. It wouldn't be to hard to have something inline and on the fly.

I don't care how it's done, I would also like to see it in game, both the current Jumpgate Classic and Jumpgate Evolution.

Re: Make Targets flagable
So far I like the idea of the text file and the in station, online pilot, options the best. The text file could be your general "order of priority" targets while your in station interface could edit it for who was online and what ships they were flying at the time.
Ideally though, a designated squad leader, probably in a ranger, could fly through a sector and just use f1-f12 to designate targets, in order of priority, to their squad. WoW uses goofy icons, so we could just use numbers or something. |
