Monsters
The quest monsters in a mmorph are static. Just set events to get the next trophie.
If the server, shard, final game has both pvpers and pvers in it. I think alot of the pvpers would volunteer to be a quest monster. If just flying to unreg makes you open for attacks then just flying in a unreg sector could be a low lvl quest. If theres a pvp tag so peeps can fire on pvp taged players anywhere quests could also be to down a pvper in regulated space. The only requirement would be that the pver would have to aquire pvp tags. I am used to being shot at. It dosent bother me if i get a pod ride either. It also dosent bother me if some peep shooting at me gets a pod ride also. I am willing to fly a cargo ship in reg space while being hunted by anyone. I will fly to the lvl of the quest also. no escort, one escort, ten escorts. If theres a object i need to carry, cargo i need to be hauling. I will do that also. Anyone looking at my stats can figure out that i am not a good shooter. That does not mean i am a easy target either. There could be a whole series of medels and doodads tied to quests involving pvpers. I cant think of any better monsters then the existing pvp crowd. |

I could easily belly up to this idea.. and if we roll this into the idea of 'player driven RP' i'm even more in favor of it.
I wonder how much GM oversight would be necessary to ensure that all 'monsters' are, like yourself, genuinely interested in the enjoyment of their fellow players rather than increasing their own kill stats. I like the idea even more if the players get to participate in the back story surrounding the 'monster'. |

This realy bothers me, i dont know how to make it consistent. If just one peep used the monster RP to pad his stats, i would hate myself for sugesting it.

Hate might be a little harsh.. maybe just slapping yourself with some form of wet fish would be sufficient..
![]() Perhaps it would be sufficient to simply make it so that anything done while 'monstered' doesn't count to stats. So if you score a kill as a monster, it doesn't affect your kill stats. An additional step might be to regulate the type of equipment that a Monster can use, thus customizing the monster to the mission (obviously for high level missions, the restrictions wouldn't exist) I would think that those aspects would turn off any but the folks who are really interested in giving other pilots something to do. |

I thought you could use a variation of the MT procurement-type mission. You would have to go MT, thereby insuring your willingness to be a target; gaining full insurance and getting a bounus for playing willing target. MT tags would remove any penalty (other than possibly PR hits) for taking down a "monster". The producrement mission could send you to any neutral station to pick up/deliver an item(s). Actually, a delivery mission to unreg would make more sense. You taking a "monster" mission would trigger counter missions at unreg stations or possibly hostile faction stations. Add in my idea for the KTRI-style banner message alerting to the counter mission and there ya go.

I like your idea WB.
I dont know how they play monsters in a morph. But dont they go after them in gangs? dont four or more peeps with the same monster quest hit the monster at the same time? With quests with different lvls it might be hard to play the skill lvl for the peep that took the quest. But i do like your idea, If we cant use some kind of pvp tag to fly into regulated space, tags are not needed. Peeps will not be able to shoot anyone in reg space, and unreg will be the only free fire zone if pvpers and pvers are in the same world. Maybe a monster tag, with the lvl of the monster also. like M2, M3, and random gangs can have at em. But if they do have the procurement type of monster mission i hope there better then the current ones are. I seen one for Antagonizers last night for 1200 credits unit profit on a 1.4 mill unit PP. The mission generator also forgot that amanth did not make that PP anymore, so if i took them all, the PPs would of dissapered from amanth. Now thats realy eco warfare....lol. but 1200 credits unit profit sure aint worth the wrath of the server. |

Not sure if I am understanding this correctly, but I don't think I like it. I prefer a game where you are not "assigned" to be a quest monster -- this should be organic within the game. The "quest monsters" should be the pirates, muggers, smugglers, contraband haulers, beacon flippers, strippers, enemy military . . . and sundry others doing naughty things. You should not need to have a friggin mission to go shoot them, but it would be nice to have some game mechanics that make it somewhat easy to identify and hunt them

I wonder if maybe having 300 folks makes the asshats go away, or if it just means there are an increased number of asshats along with an increased number of non-asshats.
Which is to say, will the ratio of asshats to players stay consistent as the community grows? |
