Multilingual Automated Communication
There are things that members of a combat group need to be able to communicate to each other. For instance "Check your six you got a bogie heading up your tailpipe" Or "Help help OMG help!!!11"
In recently joining a multilingual squad I have discovered that a lot of times...I wish I knew what the other people were talking about. To that end, I suggest a certain set of phrases or instructions be coded in multiple languages, perhaps unlocked via keypresses...like hitting z and then 2 would say "thank you" Since these are coded multilingually however, when I press the "thank you" button sequence, Hurricane would hear it in his native Spanish if that's the setting he chose. I could set mine to German after I memorize the keystrokes to actually help myself learn those phrases...so that later I can use them on teamspeak and everyone can laugh at my accent. Anyway, just another 4 a.m. idea that I had to get out of my brain before I could sleep. |

Re: Multilingual Automated Communication
I think this is a great idea, the talks so far about 'shards' which I dont like much... arent related to language shards, so any way that may help the language barriers to coexist would be nice.
Many times (when focused on Octavian production) I had much troubles and pains with german-only pilots, was never able to send the message well. Some of them speak very little english. If Z then 2 was as GG suggested, it would be the same for everyone. If in the installer the user selects english, then the Z2 would work translating to english (or use the english sets of phrases corresponding to the same in german). In reality no translation would be done, just shows the corresponding message that occupies the same slot. I also agree on the ability to output some sound play of a voice, to some of us learning a new language would be a nice feature, even if its a simple thanks, hello, or stop your engines. Of course, I would think that both of these features would be set in the config menu. ELP |

Re: Multilingual Automated Communication
Final Fantasy XI does a great job of this, with a huge amount of tactical, general help, and conversational phrases coded in at least three languages (Japanese, English and French). They may even have Spanish and/or German, but I don't know for sure.

Re: Multilingual Automated Communication
hahaha, this could be good, or good and funny, like what is the correct translations for "your good!" it would be a conpliment, but in another language perhpas something diferent, diferent languages ahve a lot of diferent subphrases, etc, but it is a good idea. I just want to be carefull when I tell a lady player that the red nose of her ship looks good, I dont get killed for it...lol hehehe
PS thanks for the spelling fix in advance..hahaha |

Phantasy Star Online also has had something like that. Its offline since a few years. You had a tree-like expanding menu, where you've made your sentence word by word. Well, some basic categories at the start, too. It was really good for the things you say the most. It had everything needed. You could also shortcut some sentences, I think!
