Neocron did it right. Something Jumpgate should consider

Neocron had a wonderful setup where squads could seize control of bases. When you viewed the map, that squads name would be visible for all to see. When you controlled a base, you recieve certain benefits for it. Like cheaper prices, etc.

This was so cool and added so much to the game, that I have always wished to see other games implement it. It gave you something to really fight for, and having everyone see that you owned said outpost gave great notoriety.

So many times I have seen threads that Jumpgate needed something for people to really fight for. How about control of a sector, or some dereg station? Controlling a sector would maybe mean that that squad ships would not spawn flux. Maybe mining payout would increase if sold to the controlled station. Maybe only certian minerals were minable by the controlling squad. Maybe repairs at the station are free. Maybe only certain things could be produced and bought at the station by that squad. I know that beacons listed the squad name, but that wasnt enough.

Give us a real, beneficial reason to fight for a piece of space.

Keep in mind that Neocron tanked. Mostly from being buggy, but it was also one boring-ass grind.

I honestly liked Neocron's premise and atmosphere a LOT, but I just could not bring myself to do the grind necessary to actually play the game.

See, the game took little real skill, so I had 'maxed' my personal abilities in the game long before I got to a high level.

That's just a recipe for boredom.

Also, players in Neocron wanted to take the bases because the bases had the special tables for crafters to make phat lewt.

Unless Jumpgate needs more phat lewt only held by the players who are already the best pilots, I think we should maybe think twice.

Anyway, even though Neocron tanked, it still imo did something right it that area. Providing tangible and desired benefits to holding a section of map.
