New Flux AI for Jumpgate Evolution
Most Jumpgate pilots that played when Jumpgate was released remember that acronyms like PvE and "mobs" didn't exist back then. I think you can expect that if Jumpgate does get the influx of new players we're hoping for, words like that will find their way onto the same list as "FF", "MS", and "POS". Niche game or not, I for one think Jumpgate would benefit from a healthy dose of PvE-related goals.
The thing that bugged me the most about the flux in Jumpgate was that they all did the exact same thing. From squid to phocs to prawns, there was no change in how they flew or fought (except the sents, of course). So who has thoughts on how the AI should be changed? Should the flux still be prone to turning away whenever a pilot scores a hit? Should pilots be able to know beforehand exactly what they're up against? |

Re: New Flux AI
I think they should behave like any living organism would went attacked or wounded.

Re: New Flux AI
Man, I need to get my water checked! Again I like Ambro's twist better. Then again, Injustice & Jump's points are valid. Some critters are more likely to attack if injured while others are more likely to run. Some are a toss-up from one time to another. Seems like a valid parameter for conflux to me. Let the playable flux have some signature on radar and/or extra credits/experience when defeated.

Re: New Flux AI
Any thing they do to it is better than the rinse and repeat we have at the moment, lost count of Flux AI post's

Re: New Flux AI
Ive always thought of the flux as a hive mind, kind of similar to the borg. which explains their tendency to all act the same with minor variations. while upgrading their intelligence a bit wouldnt be a bad thing, i would be saddened by the thought of those squid turning and running when they realized their mistake of getting in range of the Raks on my tow load of uranium

Re: New Flux AI
Thats why you allow real people to fly them -- limits the intelligence problem!
![]() P.S. Hive Mind is a cool idea -- but that would be an AI upgrade, 'cause right now it's "no mind." With a "hive mind" individual flux may not go evasive, but there would be an overall pattern and strategy . . . they would not simply present themselves to die evey time a gate was activated. |

Re: New Flux AI
I would like a flux's bounty to go up each time they down a pilot until they are downed. Maybe have their kills in the info display of your screen. Then if some flux get's 10 kills or more there could be missions to go get the mofo. Maybe even give the sob a name.
![]() Maybe special medals for those that down a 10 kill or a 20 kill flux etc. |

Re: New Flux AI
That's a great idea. But a flux with 10 kills? That'd be half the server.. the entire server, if you only count the pilots who are active.
![]() (I know, know.. pilot numbers will go way up and all) For the record, wasn't it 3 or 4 kills to become an Ace back in WWII? Maybe that's how many it takes for a flux to draw a mission... |
