"If they've only redone the graphics, finished up the PvP patches, tweaked the econ and made flux ai more interesting, I'd have to say no wipe. If things have 'advanced' years and years, perhaps even hundreds of years, to where there are totally diffrent ships, and relationships between factions, expanded map and just all sorts of really new stuff, then I'd have to say, we definitely need a wipe." Istanbul

I agree. I guess that puts me in the "that depends" category.

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

I dont really like the idea of stats at all. But I think there are certain players that would cry if they lost their artificaly created stats.

That's a really good point to remember too. I know some would be upset with a wipe but remember that Jumpgate has a fairly steep learning curve and is dependant upon "use it or lose it" personal skills that are developed over time. Even if you have to start from scratch you'll have a huge advantage over new players or even over returning vets that are way out of practice. Right now there is one player that could wipe out the entire production capabilities of all three factions and still walk away from the affair a billionair....kinda takes the wind out of your sails. Starting from scratch would give everyone the opportunity to come back with a fresh start and endless possibilities. Not wiping would be like having to remarry your first wife...yes there were some good times but.....

No, wiping the stats would be like having to remarry your first wife - just because she's had a facelift.

So we are saying that no matter what they do, continuing to play Jumpgate is like remarrying your first wife?

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

A server wipe would destroy all those precious shinnies I have collected over the years, my duty hours would be gone (although thats not a stat that really means much as it's not difficult to just leave the computer on all night), flux kills, kill ratio, cash, completed mission, huge collection of nice arties all gone.

I hope they do complete wipe the server and just let us keep our names. In my oppion a server wipe would give everyone different fields to compete in again, rather than "I'll never be able to catch McP's credit worth" or "Why bother go fluxing when I have 75,000 more to kill just to get close to the #1 flux killer"

Would also be nice to see all those empty rusting eye sore POS's off my radar.

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

If they wiped, it would be enough, as an old player, to return.

Credits:
When I left, I gave my 6 bil credits to Doplganger... who eventually grew it and gave McPlowed about 20 bil.

Medals:
I wasn't Hurricane.... but I had lots of cyber-bling.

Hours:
I really don't want to be reminded of this number. But I agree, it would be cool to keep them to sort out the vets from the vet-wannabees.
