Well, the move from the EU server to the US server and the creation of the wws 2 years ago was done so whilst maintaining all of our characters stats. For a while though, it wasn't known if that would actually happen or not. That wasn't a comfortable time. With hindsight maybe that would of been a better opportunity to delete the stats of both groups then, but it didn't happen and hopefully it won't happen now.

Can you imagine how crowded c1095 would be after a stat wipe?

It HAS to be a completely new game. There's no way they'd simply update the graphics and let us keep our old characters. Nothing like that has ever been done in the history of sequel games. Expansion packs maybe, sequels, never.

I do love the idea of little meaningless medals for our previous Jumpgate 1 experience, but I don't think that giving people a significant leg-up for playing the first game is quite fair. As for farming money, you earned it in Jumpgate but they'd better work out a different model for the economy. I don't think it's feasible to force players in a modern game to invest hours of meaningless (mining... fluxing... okay, semi-meaningless) gameplay so that they don't have to do it again. You should be able to do what you want to do in a game without having to work too much in areas that seem boring to you.

I'm sure those of you that have seen our announcement or are listening to JPR are aware now of the scale of Jumpgate Evolution and how far removed it will be form Jumpgate TRI. I'm sure it's going to be wiped, it has to be. They would never be able to market it if it's not.

i dunno when they made EQ2 they had a provision for players from the first game to "pass down" certain things to characters in the new game. sort of a family heirloom type thing. maybe give the old players some sort of medal acknowledging they were pilots in the old TRI

I would have to say that since it looks like they are all but rebuilding the whole game, the servers need to start clean.

It would be interesting to once again think about Jumpgate all day at work, then race home to get a couple hours in before bed...not to mention the extended weekend sessions.

Been a while since a game held my interest like that.

Have to agree with most of ya all, a wipe is most likely imminent. The game is shaping up to be a significant change to the original, so I'm treating it more like a JG2 than a Jumpgate:EPII expansion(personally It would be really nice if they were to keep both Jumpgate Evolution and Jumpgate:TRI separate, but thats just wishful thinking). I'm sure the econ will need everybody to start from square one so that it can be properly tuned (Sorry McPlowed). But I do share the consensus that we need a sort of "Veterans Memorial" where the stats are frozen after the database is trimmed of all the free trial account stats and those gone for more than 4 years (those that no longer play but have achieved legendary status could be voted in).

Sod the server wipe how about a server that doesn’t lag?

If it’s a new game which looks like its going to be then Jumpgate as we now know it is going to the great pie in the sky, so I take it new game = new modern hardware, and as for the losing all that I have worked for over the last 6 years of Jumpgate, TBO I have thought about it and as long as I can keep the name, or even start a fresh with it ,it doesn’t really matter, I really do hope Jumpgate-V is BIG in terms of space and content, sorry going of topic there but cant be fluffed to make a new post.

I cant wait for a server wipe. It might give me a chance of having a better kill and gun accuracy ratio. Will miss the thousands of flux I killed, oh wait no I wont.

Will certainly miss the billions OV have in real estate tho, but it will be fun trying to recoup all that while trying to kill everything at the same time. I think great alliances can come from this between PvP squads and econ guys.

Besides, they describe it as "a significant expansion to our flagship product: Jumpgate", rather than it being a stand alone "new" game.

What we need is the official line.
