Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

I like the idea of a wipe. After all, if Jumpgate Evolution keeps most of the elements of Jumpgate Classic then leveling and earning a lot of our medals and accolades should be fairly easy (AI be damned).

If a new economy affected by AI and not by just players is happening, a Economic wipe is a good thing. It forces everyone to relearn the economy. At present several folks hold the economic purse strings and can affect the economy. A wipe changes that equation quite quickly.

HOWEVER, special medals should be kept and perhaps Vet players should start at level 10 not 0.

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

I know I'm being daft but I do like to be daft from time to time.

Number 1 for flux kills (and currently the only holder of USVI (a feat I dont think I'll repeat ever again in any Jumpgate incarnation for my sanities sake))
Number 1 for exp (ceiling reached November 06)
Number 1 for gunshot hits (but not gunshots fired)
+1 billion credits in the bank..
Flux Clearance teh fluxing squad..

From a pve perspective I hereby declare that I won Jumpgate ep II LOL. Wipe it all away then, I'll just get the USVI tattooed on my arm as a memento or maybe Scorch can send me a signed unity stripe medal set picture - yeah that sounds less painful and much better

I was the second to get US IV in a tight race back when Flux were harder to find. Who remembers, who cares, time passes and life moves on. Not saying it will be easy but Jumpgate Evolution has now been defined as a new game by NetDevil so it's all a mute point now.

I'd say it's more of a server shutdown than a wipe.

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

Some argue for a wipe as that it would remove an unfair advantage. Would those same people think that a wipe every 6 months would be a good idea too as when new people start playing they will then be at a disadvantage? What about a wipe every week to really even the playing field? Wouldn't want someone investing time to get an advantage would we?
Just pulling your chains. I don't mind a stat wipe if there is as much change as it sounds.
As a side note, I notice that it appears OK for non current players to shoot down opinions of current players, but not the other way round.

Al

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

Well.. that does seem to be how it looks... BUT its not how it is. There just have been more vocal non/ex players than current players so their getting overran a bit on opinions.

Also i have to disagree with Jump a bit. Everything you have done does matter, and without that particiation we would not be getting Jumpgate Evolution. I think it would be great if there was some sort of extra medals for your pilot that signified the work people DID put into "jumpgate 1". And really, i don't think that even needs to be a worry. Scorch is a good guy, and more like us that i think some realize. I fully expect there to be some sort of carry over or nod of past participation. It may not be how we expect it, but im almost positive it will be there.

Re: New Question: Server Wipe?

I think a wipe is appropriate. Let people keep their callsigns and beta medals and that sort of thing but stats and money and all that need to go.

This is a Jumpgate Fan site not a Jumpgate player site as JOSSH is and not an anti Jumpgate player site as some have been in the past. Whether you play or don't play offers you no added status or privilege here at Joystick Required. If someone doesn't like your idea and you cannot handle that then it's better not to post your idea. There will be opinions expressed here in both agreement and disagreement to everyones posted thoughts. That's how forums are. It's ok to disagree, but all these attempts to pigeon hole members of this site are not ok. This is a fan site. Deal with it. Now if anyone is obnoxiously rude in their disagreement you may feel free to use that little report post feature.

sure, if they're coming out with a NEW GAME or a substantial enough enhancement that it's considered practically a new game. your analogy is off because it doesn't apply to this particular situation. Jumpgate-E is being billed as a new game. otherwise, why open up beta to people? why not do what they did for EP2 and just pick specific players to help beta?

If you want me to give up my USVI, you can loose the old beta medals too. USVI needed to be earned, betas just meant you turned up. Hell, let them lock out our pilot names from the beta name creation too, then they can run the Jumpgate Evolution 500 years in the future for that fresher than fresh start.

It was called a joke Sentinels.
Like I said I'm fine with a wipe if the game really is going to change that much.
