Single, agreed, it is a bit harder to choose these days as they are a lot closer then they were. The only reason I use the Haven is because the nix is so F-ing slow that you can't "run and recharge" so I choose the shield that allows me to take the most damage as possible.

Also, whoever thought the the current defier makes sense needs their head examined. Yes, the shield was an overdog and made the MFing POS wars (haha a pun) lamer than they otherwise would have been, and was a nerf to Solrain (maybe not a bad thing), but what was done to it was hardly clever.
Super high %/s recharge does not a good shield make. |

SS I have to disagree with you and Ambro both. I generally use the Defier when I use a sz 2 shield just FOR the rapid recharge rate. Then again, I'm not a PvPer and I usually only need a shield for flux that I can out-run.
I will ask you again Ambrosius, how often did the ship you flew match up with Nohbody's Ship Loadout reccomendations? Speaking of Ship Loadout Jump, when are you going to get Nohbody to update his product on your site? It's more than slightly out of date now. |

Using a defier on a phoon is about as useful as using a sz1 shield these days.

@Elm: I agree. Though I thought it would still have some usefullness on a Pest. Frankly, my biggest disappointment was our complete whiff in making the Canopy useful. I had hoped that the low mass and balanced Damage/Recharge would be a reasonable option for some flight styles. It may just need a slight boost in both Regen and Deflect to make it so (maybe 130k/13K). |

The pest versus fighters needs the brawling power of the haven. Buffing it to 11k would make it more feasible to use, yet less insane then that of the prenerf shield.

Using the "buffed" Canopy would probably be even better, no?
But back to the original point. The difficulty in trying to balance just one piece of equipment so that it represents multiple viable options (instead of one preferred item and a bunch of paperweights) is indicative of the tremendous challenge in making completely (or largely) customizable ships. |

no, the canopy would have to have an increase of 15 to 20k recharge rate for it to be considered imo. A plus 8k recharge for a loss of 2k shielding isn't really worth it. This is going off the jossh numbers so if this is wrong ignore it.
