Obstacles - collision damage

Greetings,

I would like to have collision damage reduced so that if you run through an asteroid field it would not smash you like a fly if you hit some Roid at cruise speed.

To kick off 100 of your 200% combined shield and armor ratings would be enough, if the bumpage was also slightly reduced. It could damage your ship independently from your weight. Someone who was in a fight and lightened up his ff to jump but smashes the pylon would still die and provoke laughter.


Reasons: It makes the game more forgiving to newcomers that accidently hit pylons or asteroids near gates, save unfortunate Tow/Freighter pilots and thus might be better for gameplay.



What is your honest opinion?

I can sign this provisionally. Asteroids are big, heavy, solid objects. you shouldnt be able to just bounce off Emma with no repercussions.

There is some sort of sliding scale where mass and speed come into play, but right now that scale is really steep

While I would not object to a little reduction in damage, I would not like to see a LOT change. I'd hate to see Jumpgate turn into anything like Eve.

Allegiance would be a better analogy to use. I remember getting up a full head of steam and colliding with a station or some other solid object only to bounce off with a little bit of damage.

my thing is that small roids should cause the same damage as smashing a large roid flush. theoretically, a tiny roid would be the thing that would suffer the damage in a collision between a shielded vessel and it. think of a ocean liner hitting a rowboat at full steam. they hardly notice it. now, those coral reefs that are miles wide and deep, anchored to the sea bed, those things you gotta watch out for.
