Official Corperation Squads
I have a squad, you have a squad we all have squads.
Why not have the Corporations like T&P etc (should they survive to Jumpgate Evolution) as 'official' squads too. By becoming a member of T&P you get staff discounts on their equipment and T&P specific missions generated from the mission computer. Including both peaceful procurement/mining ones and hostile missions versus the other manufacturing organisations. Just like the military missions we have now but different. So, as a member of T&P's organisational squad, I can take a specific t&p mission against.. say.. PSI, to go collect a spy datadisk from their factory and any PSI squad member can counter me aggressively and freely, if they see me doing it, or scan my ship and find I've an industrial spying mission active. Adds another avenue for pvp, limited between these industrial squads without cross over from military role plays. Your conduct whilst in the T&P organisation will be monitored using the demerit system, although it would be much harsher than the military system and once demerited and expelled from T&P, I would never be allowed to rejoin that organisation with this account and instead I could move onto the next organisation.... I think this would be a great avenue to explore. |

Re: Official corperational Squads
Sounds like a really interesting idea overall - adds some depth to the mission system. I don't think the demerits system has to necessarily be harsher - it would depend on the company. A company that has shady operations going could easily be more lenient than a government.

Re: Official corperational Squads
IMO other things need to be fixed and added first, but this isn't such a bad idea. It would add more depth to the mission system/atmosphere to the game. It'd give the corporations a little more dimension also.
However, this would take a lot of workin'. Maybe they can add this after they fix the bounty system and add controllable resources. =) |

Re: Official corperational Squads
A good point Z, and I think that yes, each company could and would have its own demerit rulings.
What I do think is particularly good about this idea is the 'other avenue' for pvp. One of the things I find frustrating with/about pvp in Jumpgate Classic is the gank issue. If I go MT and decide to do some missions into another factions space I inevitably have to try and bypass one group or another made up of multiple squads and one false turn means the end of my mission. It was the same with the old HG system and also being rat tagged to a large extent. Its the broad sweep approach to pvp, that boils down to a 'you vs all of them'. This idea adds scalability to the pvp experience. If I wish for broad spectrum pvp I can join the military and fight whoever my faction decrees as the enemy that day. If I wish to engage in a smaller scale and more focused pvp, this squad vs that squad, then with this idea I will have that option too. |

Re: Official Corperation Squads
Mmmm Vorlon, instead of having to become a "squad member" why not just a mission generated for the company? Perhaps taking the mission would put some kind of tag on you to show that you were on a T&P mission (which would ID you to other corporate types/pirates/MT only if scanned). The limited PvP part sounds good as well. You would have to be scanned before you could be a "valid" PvP target, otherwise you would just be another non-combat hauler/miner etc.
However it's sliced, diced, tossed or served, new content is worth trying. The idea sounds interesting, but I'd never give up being OAS just to run some missions for a corporation no matter how high the profits were. |

Re: Official Corperation Squads
I like the *give the missions more depth* just not the having to be in a squad to do it. I have screamed about the fact the we have mega companies sitting in the shadows of Jumpgates play with luck and the new writer ND have on ( forgot his name sorry ) Jumpagte Evolution will bring these companies to the fore front of things, or at least give them some more depth.

Re: Official Corperation Squads
I don't think "Corporation Squad" is right.. but a "Corporation Affiliate" would be a better choice of words. For example... being an affiliate of a company that makes Thorns, would get you a discount on them.. but it may raise the price on Injustices and maybe some other components. Missions with more depth from that would be nice. If you throw in a Corporate Station with dammagable/destroyable components...
