POS for Opti only
Make POS only available to Optis, that includes being able to buy them also. At the moment apart from mil map and /prod boost there seems little bonus to being an Opti
I read somewhere about removing RRR from them but that seems ridiculus to me and why oh why they let enemy ships dock with invite in enemy territory is beyond me. While Im thinking about it deny access from TRI-C pilot POS. |

Re: POS for Opti only
Just think -- if the farming exploit had not happened and upkeep cost had not gone away, how many POSes do you think you'd see? Part of the flaw was not in the original design, but in game exploits and bugs.
POSes (IMO) should be expensive to buy, expensive to keep and should not be exploitable by your opponents. |

Re: POS for Opti only
I think the game was more fun without POS. Once space was filled with the things the game became less and less interesting. I would rather see FOS. Where factions could attempt to expand their territory and build and build new stations. Of course, they would have to protect and fortify them as well. With the technology Netdevil developed for structure destruction in Auto Assault, there would be very interesting game play.

Re: POS for Opti only
My biggest pet pev with POS's is that once they were up, the faction stations were always empty. As big as our faction stations are, I find it hard to fantom that I only get 55 units of personal storage at the depo staiton.
If I were gonna change things, the core faction station would have Squad available storage for rent, and the other 3 faction station would have personal stoarage for rent. I'd bring the community back together and take out POS's completely, making those days when rallying all those docked to launch and fight off invaders a reality once again. With all the POS's that -=MACK=- had and used, 99% of them were all for storage of equipment, or temp storage for commodities for equipment production. |

Re: POS for Opti only
I'll go for Hurricane's idea. About all I use my POS for is storage & hangers. Even the stupid Ore Silo I bought thinking I could store ore in it (NOT!). It was SUCH a hassle before I got a hanger to try and change out ships. Going from a HM, Tow or Tug to a fighter, what the heck do you do with your arties or modex? What about your Tangent or Vector engine? And so on. Without a hanger and storage I usually had to just sell it off.
With a hanger it's wonderful! Buying and/or renting storage and hanger space on a faction station is fine by me. Then again, the use of public stations has made it much easier to change equipment (go from arti equipment, to mining, to fluxing etc) without having to go back to a TRI station or my POS. The ability to reload missiles from cargo to hard points, etc. I would prefer to keep the POSs, but if that's not going to be possible, I would REALLY like to have storage and hanger space available. |

Re: POS for Opti only
The whole POS situation became messed up so lets scrap the original concept. I hated how PvP became so focused on keeping your station stocked which took a ludacris amount of time and effort (and money, but that SHOULD be a cost) and it kept people out of the public stations.
I don't think the Opti problem is going to be fixed by POS's alone. The game needs to have endgame content for level 50's to give them something to accomplish after the level grind. Not everyone PvP's, in fact I'm hoping that the majority of the new players will be carebears, and they need more then a simple level grind to keep them occupied. The carebears deserve more... |

Re: POS for Opti only
I think you all need to get away from the "all stations stocked with all gear" reasoning. I was a carebear (I know hard to believe) when I bought my first POS back on the EU server and we used POS as shops for imported gear all compeating with each other for lowest prices or best selection of gear. Some dealt with pure fighter equip from just MF gear, LF gear, F (?) or frieghter gear or whatever.
You have to remember that PR dont count on POS so getting your Guardian shield with out the right PR was easy. TBH its only coming to the US server that POS use became a sore point. But I do think there needs to be a way to stop people starting accounts getting to level 10 popping up a POS then canceling the account before the trial ends. So thats why I say Opti only and active accounts. |

Re: POS for Opti only
POS is a big topic.
POS'es changed our interaction with other because now we could be self-suffient. We could have gear and ships at our disposal near where the action was. There was simply no reason to go to the core stations. And I think that was the main problem. What is there besides hauling gear, sim, and missions at core stations? Not much. If we limit the area where you can deploy POS, and make a reason for people to be at core stations, we can change that. Limiting: make it take time and resources. You will think twice about building one. Buying and poof, you have a POS= silly. Furthermore, it depends what are we trying to achieve. Give players freedom to be whatever they wanna do (be pirate, create a squad, be a some kind of organization), then you should give ability to built something. Or create factional communities. @dailatron Sorry, but I do not feel like spending much of my time flying around and looking for optimal equipment. Some people simply do not have that much play time. |
