I would suggest that in Jumpgate Evolution, any and all Privately Owned Stations would be published automatically. I see no service to the community by allowing pilots to keep the information on their POS unpublished.

Care to convince me otherwise?

Um, if you want to have a secret station then that's your business. Why would you want to publish if your not selling anything? I would still keep the ability to NOT publish. However, I would add the option to publish without location. That way if you have a secret base far out and you only want those that know to access it. Then you could use this option and still check your goods remotely.

Elpirata, I for one, would be glad to not have POS "as we know them" in Jumpgate Evolution, but it's already been stated with authority that POS will exist in Jumpgate Evolution. My attitude is if they are there, and can be seen, then they should be published. Just like any other structure in Jumpgate Classic. Whether you can enter or not is immaterial.

Jump, I guess you are right but I just can't see it. Perhaps if the POS was in the back of beyond and not where it could be spotted on a regular flight path. Or if the POS was totally un-named and unlisted (like a 'roid) I could agree. But when you can see it, target it, and have both it's name and public/private/squad access readily ascertained, why should the POS information be witheld? For that matter, why should ownership be a secret?

I really enjoy having my POS published and having the ability to use your POS lister to check my inventory from the other side of the galaxy. Nice to be able to do the same with other published POS's, particularly those with public access, if I'm looking for something. If I knew who owned the POS I could PM them to try and make a deal to purchase.. whatever... I tend to forget there are others playing the game with much greater needs for secrecy than I expect or want. Never mind. Just another one of my ideas that makes sense to me but doesn't work for anyone else.

Nay I say. If your selling then you publish. If your not selling then don't confuse the list of commods and equipment.

I can see a valid reason to require the location,access, addons, and cost of services of POS to be known without displaying it's contents. I believe this is what WB is actualy wanting. I would make the location info optional for unregulated sectors.

Currently the only way a POS's existance and location are known is if the owner also lets the contents of the station be known.

Is known if folks find it, whether you may be able to dock or see the contents or not, you can see its there still. People eventually know where PvP squads have pos' outside faction space (or which pos' are they using if not theirs).

What you cannot ascertain now is who is the owner unless you were there at the moment of creation or observe and monitor who comes and goes.

I also see the point of hiding its contents, now that Im in ISU and wear pirate tags all the time... is not always a good idea to /publish your place. I'd wish we'd have a properties page where we could set some of the publish info to be known. I was going to suggest having hidden inventories too, that unlike storage can be accessed by your teammates or those you allow to.

I still prefer the idea about pos being a place in a station, though those that will be pirates and mercs may not like to be in a factional station and as such, it would be logical to either have pos for them in unreg or have them have their own places like in factional stations but in unreg stations.

Still, publish for all I dont think is a good idea, specially the owner information.

I will say this about POS's. If somebody dumps one in the Gurge, then for some reason or another cancels his account, the POS should be tied to that account and get deleted rather than enter condemned status and float in space for a year. Along those same lines, a POS that hasn't had the upkeep payed or been docked at for a solid month should be deleted as well.

If there are going to be POS's, they should be few and far between, not seven in this sector, 12 in that one. Oh, and NO PRIVATE POS's, maybe one squad only POS PER SQUAD, but no private ones.

I don’t have any problem with a POS and its location being listed as long as the pilot owner is not listed unless the pilot wishes it. However, the argument can be made that since all pilot stats are shown on JOSSH anyway, that there might as well be another column on the pilot page that shows the ownership of a POS and its name & location

Not everyone sets up a POS as a service to the community.

Then you would have to have a minimum squad size.

I should start taking names of everyone that thinks poses should not be in Jumpgate Evolution......and hold u to that thought when i see you owning one. As for publishing that might make it easier to find strippers.

As for POS, if the same functions are available in a faction station (as suggested in several other threads) I could quite happily live without one. We know POS will be in Jumpgate Evolution, but exactly how they will be implemented is not clear to the general populance at this time. I just think if you have a POS the info should be published, including who owns it.
