While I agree with GG, it can turn into something like this: PvPer is trying to pod non-pvper. PvPer defends or runs away. PvPer starts to fly what non-pvpers fly and utilitize their advantages more effectively against other pvpers and non-pvpers.

By providing "carebears" with so called better ships, you could also be providing better ships to pvpers.

I still remember Liet "mining" other pilots in the sim. And he was good at it too.

I think it is still about the skills. Tesrend downed Rollio in a tow full of matt cons.

How to solve it? More shields and armor for tows and mining ships. Provide them with basic defence but nothing too heavy. Should be good up to 1-2 enemy ships but not more. Maybe even make FlashFire only for those ships only.

UUUU an idea. Let's have tags. But they would mean little in reg space. Only informational to local faction.

If a miner that is tagged civ is getting shot by another player in reg space, it triggers couple things:
1. A bounty is put on the offending pilot.
2. AI factional "police" spawns and heads to help out. The AI should not be too strong. Only enough to "reconsider" his/hers actions. If somebody is bound on killing some one, they will do it anyway. Number and strenght of AI should be based on how close you are to the station or border. You could even have AI patrols flying around and they would divert to the right sector when nessarry.
3. A factional alert is generated about "crime" in progress.

While it is probly not perfect, it is better than nothing.

Re: PVP overhall (Business Requirements document)

I have no problems with non-pvp ships being used for pvp. I wish more octs had flown the Vulture into combat. I think fixing the ships is a much better way to go than spawning AI or trying to balance penalties. *I* for one, would have had a lot less problem getting civved if I had had a fighting chance.

Escorting is fine and dandy, but unless your squad was willing to do it you were generally SOL. If there's any sort of tag protection at all, 90% of the time escorting will be so boring no one will want to do it. Fix the ships anyway, you'll still need an escort if more than one fighter decides to harass you, and if you don't have one you can at least go down swinging.

What about using a "Heavy Fighter" class to do more than just fight? It gets down to versitility really...what if we had no real non-pvp ships? Maybe some ships get a bonus for mining or cargo, but they all can mount effective weaponry and defenses.

That way we would not have "Heavy Fighter", we would just have the
Millennium Falcon instead...a multi role ship that was a trader, but killed quite a few imperials in its time. Its about ship CONFIG, rather than cookie cutter "this is a fighter", "this is a trader"

Two barracks and a Financier on your tensy was a fun way to mine in Unreg.
The barracks were for Flux defense. Granted the 24 cargo sucked, but it was still much better than the 8 on a Nix and the 16 on a phoon. You could get to an unreg station and back to mining pretty quick. And when you were done, you just switched out a few guns (back to Thorns in my case.)

If they spent some time focusing on making that kind of versatility more common and more viable (I don't think too many people liked that mining loadout) it would definately add a lot to the game.

Great example with the falcon.

Re: PVP overhall (Business Requirements document)

So join a squad where people are willing to escort you if you're hauling.

I was in 2 of the most active in the original Jumpgate, Phoenix and -DSA-. Even those squads, it was simply not possible to get an escort all time. I don't know why you refuse to acknowlege this. Even Netdevil has stated that this is a problem.

When players can't find escorts, they just don't want to login. Eventually, they unsubscribe. Simply saying "find an escort or you are out of luck" just doesn't work.

Re: PVP overhall (Business Requirements document)

I refuse to acknowledge this because whenever I hauled I never had any issues finding an escort. If your squad isn't willing to escort you when you're trying to haul then I'm sure they'll find themselves running out of equipment to play with rather soon and then what?

So it's inconceivable to you that a person might not be able to get an escort?
