All the evidence is that PvP happens on consensual-only (PvE) shards and PvE happens on non-consensual (PvP) shards. On a consensual-only shard, you get to turn off PvP tho, if you don't want it. Half the Jumpgate peeps who play(ed) WoW, play(ed) on a PvE shard, and the rest on PvP shards. Both groups do PvE and PvP. There will be differences between the two servers, of course. The PvP shard will be more dangerous. The PvE shard will have more player PvE events. There will be problems with ass-hatting on both. If you're against splitting the two groups, fine. But don't continue this nonsense, please. |

Please don’t tar me with the same carebear brush that people seem to wave around when it comes to none PVP players I have and never will threaten to leave Jumpgate due to being shot at or indeed have I done my absence of late has been due to being extremely bored with the game, hence playing other tittles. I might well have said people per-say might leave due to civ rips but again if you find one where I have said im off due to it then ill eat the humble pie and see a Doc about my memory. I have no problem, civ rips if sanctioned just the inane skilless twats that go on a rampage but even then they are short lived and far and few between. |

Lord, don't worry about retracting your comments towards dial, he attacks everyone, so he deserves what he gets back.

Also, there is no evidence that they can even fill one shard with 2500 people let alone two or more. So everything everyone says here is conjecture. |

Re: Question for the devs
Do you really think I'm trying to intimidate you? I'm honestly pleading for moderation.
If there aren't enough people to fill two shards, then Jumpgate Evolution will be screwed anyway. |

Re: Question for the devs
I'm sure they will do fine Jonboy. I'm not saying they won't. just pointing out the evidence as you say. I'm just saying that for the middle of the road player, like me, it won't be fun on either one. This won't be the first game to take this approach and it won't be the last. I liked the original Jumpgate and it looks like this won't be anything like that.

Re: Question for the devs
I wonder just how representative of the general gamer population we JGers are? I only know and have played Jumpgate so I don't have the breadth of view nor the depth of experience at various games I know some of you have. How much like Joe and/or Susie Gamer are we?
My point is that if we are NOT representative of gamers in general, then our likes/dislikes are going to be meaningless on a game of interest to the majority of gamers. I know from reading here and elsewhere that we JGers are considered to be "niche" game players because of the skill involved in playing Jumpgate as opposed to the "point & click" gaming approach or the "turn based" gaming of some single-player games (like Phantasy, Might & Magic, etc), the steep learning curve and the flight engine used in JumpGate. In trying to make a more commercially successful game, is ND going to HAVE to go in a direction that most of us Classic players are going to inheriently dislike? THAT is what worries me the most. I'm afraid that to be appealing to the most people they are going to have to make the game I love into something I won't be interested in playing and then take away the flawed game I've played for 6 years as well, leaving me with nothing. |
