Enemy bases are the hottness. What if there were transports between flux bases...and we could sabotage their supply lines. They mentioned "epic raids" in the recent interview. Can't think of anything much more epic than going out to destroy a flux base.

I love this idea as I think it would bring a whole new dimension to the game.

The ol Spawn, shoot, kill, jump out, jump in, respawn.. repeat thing gets very old after a while.

Adding some staregy, planning a raiding party on a Flux base or transport would be awesome!

I kind of touched on this in another thread (Anomalies and Flux Space)...

I was thinking that at the beginning we are fighting them off, they are attacking us, then as player base grows and the flux start to take heavy losses we can start to take the fight to them, which is kind of what ya'll are discussing here. I'm not so sure it would make sense for flux to have cargo transports in our space, unless they need something from us, I would think their own space would house their needs. So once you are able to get into their space, you start to see how they live.

Thinking about intelligent enemy behaviour, will there be potential for GMs/devs to take control of some flux ships and create special events for us to fly against them?

They did in the past. The game engine allows any ship to be flown really, so GMs could fly with any stats given to them. What you see on the outside is purely a skin.

However, I'll put in my old advice that designing in dependence on GM activity is bad design.

Re: real AI not just random spawns

I saw someone mention the flux might not need transports on our side of space, they are self sufficient in their own space. It may be true, but I'd say that the flux DO need something in our space, maybe a rescourse they overexploited at home and ran out of. There needs to be some important reason they are here at all, after all, they are losing ships big time. Would you lose this amount of rescourses if you didnt need something ? I might even sugest the flux need US...why come here and deal with us at all?? They need something we have, wheather it might be food,(us?) or our technology, there has got to be a reason, and it wasnt mentioned before. Lets make a good reason up and then maybe flux convoys and capitol ships in our space would make sence. It sure would be fun.

Re: real AI not just random spawns

I guess you guys already forgot about what was said in some of the early interviews about the new AI system? (Or maybe I've forgotten how little we've said publicly.)

I don't think you'll be too disappointed by the new AI system's capabilities. Possibly a little annoyed, disturbed or even slightly scared now and then, but not disappointed.

We also appreciate the one or two behavior ideas mentioned in this thread that weren't already in the new system. Thanks, and we hope you won't be (too) sorry that you brought them up.

Jump once again, I want to thank you for running this place and allowing us to voice some opinions and new ideas to the developers.

Istavan and Scorch, thank you guys so much for keeping your ears open to us, it means a ton to an ex-JGCer and future Jumpgate Evolution waiter.

Re: real AI not just random spawns

The AI is completely new code. They flly from sector to sector, can do things with or without players in the sector and we can define all kinds of tasks for them to do like patrol, deliver, etc. We also have LOTS of AI in the game right now to help load test the game which is also really helpful. This new AI system is extreamly powerful and we are just getting our heads around all the neat stuff we can do with it.

I am sure once Beta starts you guys will have lots of cool ideas of other things you want it to do as well.
