Side door exit left, as again nothing new is coming out of this one.

edit did make a long winded quote this and that post but have cut it as it seems little point, maybe we need a new thread with how to make it better rather than going around and around the *they are bad no they are not, yes they are, no ........*

24 hours x 365 days x 100 years = 876000 hours

If I ever buy a burger from your stall in a TRI Station after the removal of POS, remind me to count my change me old mucker

I dont believe I flamed anyone.

I didn't mean to imply ALL non-pvp'ers, cause that would not be accurate as a lot do care. I'm talking about the hardcore carebear lot like the ones in this thread who have said over and over that they could care less about the pvp aspects of the game, how POS's effect combat, and for us to bugger off and play Aces High.

Re: Remove POS's (Now in easy-to-digest poll format)

I know 20 people who don't like POSes who have played Jumpgate for about 5years each, was what I was trying to say.

Anyway, alls I'm sayin is I remember the game before they were around, and it was more fun.

Re: Remove POS's (Now in easy-to-digest poll format)

I'd say it was more fun too. I'd also say that I've found ways to continue the fun and keep an active squad, each member having fun. More numbers would undoubtably make this easier.
Imagine the interest in advertising Jumpgate with and without POS'es. Which do you feel would get more interest?
I couldn't be bothered quoting it but someone mentioned before that this is a bogus poll. One designed to make someone look right.
3 options, keep em, dump em, change em.
I vote for change them. This is the best way forward to get more people interested in the game. I can remember over 8 years ago I was told "one day you will be able to make your own station" by a guy that got me into this lifesink of game. I know they ain't perfect, but they are not so broken that they need to be removed.
A lot of the suggestions about hangar/module etc. just seem to me like asking for storage space etc. on all TRI faction stations, but no one seems to just openly say that.
Got work, but some food for thought.

Regards
Al

Adding some of the features of a POS to faction stations would work just fine, I think. Imagine little modules attached to Outpost with your squad logo on it. Would be cool.

Re: Remove POS's (Now in easy-to-digest poll format)

Another alternative:

1) Only allow POS to be in Unreg. (RP can be colonizeing unreg or whatever)
2) Don't allow pilots to home in a POS.

This results in people still stocking the faction stations (since they will spawn there) and gives another reason to go to unreg.

The main concern here would be obviously from a stocking POV. Some measure(s) would have to be put in place from preventing people from simply "stripping" public consumption equipment for personal use. By this I mean imagine having a private bar(I like to think in terms of beer, helps me function in a more productive sort of way), and every time your supply got low you just took some off the public market so you could continue a squad party. Now the underage kid that docks at a station can't get someone to buy him a beer, as the beer has all been bought by the adults. He could buy some fizzy pop instead, but that just doesn't make him puke and feel like crap the next day. So he opts for the girly alcopop instead.
Now substitute "optimum equipment" for beer, "non optimum equipment" for fizzy pop, "squad storage/hanagars etc." for private bar", "noob/low level/hangarless Joe" for underage kid.............you get the point

As with stripping now we all know it isn't good for the playerbase as a whole, but it still happens to some degree. Effectively moving a POS to a faction station would make this easier. We are all human and don't always go to the place we should to buy stuff.
I'd love to see it work though.

Regards
Al

Re: Remove POS's (Now in easy-to-digest poll format)

You know, that almost makes it more fun... Two things you can do to address stripping of communal gear...

1. Limit Squad storage capacity. If they can't hold 600 Thorns, they won't buy 600 Thorns.

2. The station keeps a list of equipment on the public market that is moved to instation squad storage (or just removed, period). This list is publicly available. "Hey, those guys from OSP took all the Dreams! They betrayed the Empire, get em! blah blah blah" Could be fun.
