usually i am not in agreement with what dail says but so far i agree almost totally with him, and vorlon. working with orka i found economy work quite fun and as such i found that pos's did need to be reworked....like they needed to be 3 or 4 times bigger. i can go into reasons why pos's should stay and be bigger and even have factory/farming moduels but "most not all" pvpers have said do away with the pos's.
here is how i use my pos 1. as a holding facility for tier 1 commods so they dont go poof at the faction stations before we are ready for a poduction run. 2. centrally located to be close to the 5 best mining fields 3. centrally located so i can produce at "all" the factions without having to fly the length of the map to do it...it should be noted that we produce in such a way as to get the max out of the station...this includes moving things around and transporting food stuffs, water, grain and the tier 1 commods. having a pos located centrally in the middle of the mining fields and leading production stations of the factions is a huge help. u want to get rid ofpos's.....i honestly feel vorlon has the best idea. |

I voted "no", but only because I didn't like the choices. I felt like if I voted to have them "seriously re-worked", I was also voting to possibly have them removed if they couldn't be made better. Based on just looking at the poll itself, you can't even tell if most of those people want them removed or "fixed".
I loved the POS's. There were a couple times I actually quit playing and eventually came back simply because I knew I had a POS full of artis and equipment. Though some sectors were a bit crowded, I thought it generally gave sectors more personallity and made the "landscape" of Jumpgate seem more alive. I haven't checked this thread in a few days and didn't "catch up", so maybe someone has mentioned it by now, but I think most people are taking the whole "POS" idea out of context of the MMOG world, in general. In most MMOG's now days, player-owned housing has become a mainstay. People have come to expect it, even more so in a game like Jumpgate, considering there's no "world" or landmarks... just open space. I'm all for making them harder to get/more expensive/higher lvl required. I'm really digging the idea of having to bring commods/materials from main stations to build them. I might even go along with an idea to have a more limited area to build them in... definitely a few sectors where they can't be built at all. I'll leave it to the devs to hammer out the details, but POS's should definitely stay. On a side note, the only poll choices should have been "Reworked" or "Removed"... I don't believe anyone thinks POS's should remain exactly how they are now. |
