Thank you Karash, as always, able to explain your thoughts so I can understand.

I like the classes as described here, by size and type, instead of by a tag system that only hampers the ability to RP and have an open gameplay. So for the radar ranges, the larger ships that are more like a tanker class would be the ones with the smaller radars, and the ships that are classified more as destroyers and fast attack/scout ships would be able to see more.

Bigger ships with smaller radars doesn't seem to make logical sense to me. The only reason to have a low-range on a radar is because of limited space in the ship to put a bigger and better radar. I personally wouldn't mind if all ships had the same radar range...say 50k.

I'd rather see small radar uniformly, with a boost if your faction has tuned the beacon (or something like that). So maybe a 15K radar that can be "boosted" to 15k either by a tuned beac or some kind of new strategic support ship (think AWACS).

Exactly, normal ships don't have big radars, while an AWAC ship is designed to have it.

Make radars use a CRAP TON of power or something to make it fit into the RP and mechanics.
