Re: Roid under reticule

yeah, that'd be darn useful. Perhaps, also roid mass as well.

Re: Roid under reticule

maybe a roid scanner modx, to help find different kinds of them. Help, not find them for you, but maybe give a general direction of "hey, there are radioactives in that general direction".

Re: Roid under reticule

to be honest though Id also like to be able to also use 'target nearest' for roids when mining lasers are fitted too.

Ive probably spent an accumulated hour of my life spinning my ship in a circle looking for the roid that I KNOW is right beside me but darned if I can find it.

Re: Roid under reticule

That's usually when I go to the outside view Vor .

I'd like the ability to change down to shorter ranges on the radar too. 5000k can be awfully large when you're looking for one tiny dark 'roid. But 18000k range is awful short on the top range if you use a smaller radar. So perhaps either a radar with more steps or else a modex to do the same thing since I'm sure the PvP crowd would have no use for an 8 or 10 step radar.

Do PvPers even use anything less than the maximum range? If they do use shorter ranges, why? Most of the combat ships have a size 2 maximum radar, right? The Knocker? So why not let the size of the radar determine the number and size of the steps? Size 1 has no steps, sz2 has 2, and so on.

Re: Roid under reticule

Radar steps can come in handy in combat situations. Especially large engagements. its no use running after a target thats 15k away if there are 5 targets within 5k.

Also, with multiple ships in sector, cycling targets at a longer range can be annoying.

Re: Roid under reticule

Thanks dahalb! Guess the size = steps idea isn't viable then. Oh well... new modex to increase the number/size of the steps then. I still would like a 500k bottom range with a 50000k top range. Number of steps is immaterial to me. Useless in combat but handy for small dark roids...

Re: Roid under reticule

I assume ya mean 500m range? Im signing this one. ive probably spent about an hour spinning around looking for that roid thats less than 20m away as well.

Re: Roid under reticule

all of this sounds great to me.

Vorlon31, thanks for the tip regarding using the external view to find those elusive roids next to you. I'll have to do that next time i'm spinning in circles looking for those black-as-night pure pebble that got lost after killing a dumped flux.

Re: Roid under reticule

Unless of course you're in a freighter. Then the only thing you see on external view is the arse end of the ship. It takes up the whole screen.
